Evanston Community Foundation’s president and chief executive officer, Sol Anderson, left his role at the Evanston nonprofit organization on Friday, Evanston Now has learned. Anderson, a former executive director for two Chicago nonprofit organizations, had been president of the foundation since June 2021. In a statement, Akilah Wilson, ECF’s senior communications manager, confirmed Anderson’s departure, writing in a statement that Anderson “informed the Foundation of his intention to depart and thereafter transitioned and separated on or around Sept. 4, 2026.” “ECF’s Board and staff are working together to ensure continuity in the Foundation’s grantmaking, donor services, community partnerships, and fall activities,” Wilson wrote. “The Board expects to appoint interim leadership while conducting a formal search for ECF’s next permanent executive.” Board Chair Laura-Min Proctor said in a statement that the ECF board is “committed to supporting our staff and partners through a thoughtful transition while maintaining ECF’s important work.” “We are excited about the opportunities ahead and our enduring commitment to invest in Evanston,” Proctor said in the statement. Evanston Now was unable to reach Anderson for comment Tuesday afternoon.
