Звезда фильма «Грязь» Стокард Ченнинг представит свою постановку в Ливерпуле

Grease star shares 'beautiful' Liverpool memory after 20 years The play is coming to Liverpool for one night only A Grease star has shared memories from her time in Liverpool as her global tour makes its Liverpool debut. Stockard Channing, who starred as Betty Rizzo in 1978 hit film Grease, is directing Samuel Beckett's classic play Krapp's Last Tape, which will arrive at Liverpool's Epstein Theatre on Wednesday, September 9. The play stars David Westhead, who is known for his extensive theatre work and on screen roles as Neil Read in the comedy series W1A and the Prime Minister in the political thriller series Bodyguard. Channing Stockard has received much recognition throughout her career, receiving a Tony Award, three Emmy Awards along with Grammy Awards and Golden Globes. She has had many television and film roles throughout her career, including The West Wing, Practical Magic and Six Degrees of Separation. In an exclusive interview with the ECHO, the 82-year-old actress recalled the first time she visited the city when filming for the film Sparkle playing Sheila, alongside Liverpool born, Shaun Evans best known for his role in Cashback playing Sean Higgins. Stockard said: "We had a lovely time actually. One of your compatriots Shaun Evans was my co-star, so that was a very long time ago. He was lovely. It was just a pleasant experience and I thought it was a beautiful city." The 2007 film was filmed around Liverpool, assisted by the Liverpool Film Office, parts of Liverpool were used to double for London, and Wirral doubled as Canvey Island in Essex. The film premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in July 2007 before holding its regional premiere in Liverpool at FACT in September 2007. The actress added: "I would love to see the city again without the pressure of having to work every day because when you work, you don't really get to know the place you're in." Stockard also spoke about her upcoming reprised role playing Aunt Frances in Practical Magic 2, admitting it is "an unusual situation". She said: "I hope people like it. I especially hope the fanbase likes it because they're the people that made this happen. There was a very unusual situation to have to remake something that became a hit because the fans found it and loved it over 28 years ago. "I wanted to do it because I was crazy about my co-stars and it was a lovely script and I thought it was a wonderful thing to have happened for a fan base to get a major motion picture studio to do a sequel and put a lot of money into a sequel for a film that originally was not well that well received. I think it's very very interesting phenomenon." Her most recent venture, the production of Samuel Beckett's classic play Krapp's Last Tape stars David Westhead takes us into the world of an old man looking back through recordings of his life — from hilarious memories and lost love to unfulfilled ambitions, dreams and hope. The show description reads: "This production, directed by Academy Award nominee Stockard Channing and starring David Westhead, tours globally throughout 2025. "Revel in Samuel Beckett's classic play, as audiences are invited into Krapp's world of solitude, memories, dreams, elation, and despair. "This touring production has been brought to life in disused function rooms, underground vaults, former jails, and dusty factories. We are transported to a land of joy, sadness, lost ambition, love, madness, and hope." The play will be on at 7.30pm on Wednesday, September 9 and to book tickets, visit the website.
