Look no further, as the Daily Mail's TV experts have selected 19 of the best shows and films that you can stream on demand right now. From the nail-biting thriller Trigger Point, starring Vicky McClure, to a Cold War buddy action comedy with Ryan Reynolds, there are plenty of options to choose from. So grab your TV remote, put your feet up and get ready to make the most of what is on offer this weekend. The Grand Tour (2026 series) A new generation of presenters takes on the mantle of Clarkson, Hammond and May Year: 2026 Certificate: 12 Fast cars and boyish enthusiasm were always the key to Top Gear and The Grand Tour, and that's even more true of this reboot of the latter in which the torch is passed from Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May to a younger generation. Meet Francis Bourgeois, James Engelsman and Thomas Holland, two nerdy Brits and a beardy Canadian who feels like the dad of the piece as the trio embark on a six-part adventure into automotive excitement. Clarkson pops up at the start of part one to give his blessing to the trio, in a comedy skit-style scene that is inarguably the most awkward moment of the entire opener. Matters steadily improve once the boys (and Thomas) are out on their own, driving three extremely fast cars around eerie locations in California and running into Jenson Button in the process. For this, the infectiously cheerful Francis is behind the wheel of a true monster – the $2.75million, 2,000hp Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution Evolution, a car that really earns the length of that name out on the road. Bourgeois may already be familiar from his Channel 4 series Mission to Space, or one of the many enthusiastic videos he has made on YouTube about trains. He's a natural, singular joy to watch while James and Thomas feel more like a duo, and that's not a coincidence. The two run a YouTube channel called Throttle House that dates back to 2015, and which is also all about fast cars and adventure. It'll take a while for the three to find their feet as a trio but the cars provide a lot of fun in the meantime and the competitive edge that Clarkson, Hammond and May had is there, too – the teasing is just a little gentler. The rest of the series features, in order: a trip to Malaysia; tiny cars in the US; putting tough cars through their paces in Wales; a race against public transport across Europe, and a desert challenge in Angola. May turns up in episode two and Hammond in the fourth. (Six episodes) Trigger Point Line Of Duty's Vicky McClure stars in this explosive drama Year: 2022- Certificate: 15 This police drama stars Line Of Duty's Vicky McClure, and comes from the production company of Jed Mercurio, that show's creator. It introduces us to some new police lingo as Explosives Officer – 'Expo' – Lana 'Wash' Washington and her colleagues race to defuse explosive situations all around London, and it proved a massive hit with audiences. Now in its fourth series, not all of Lana's colleagues have stayed the distance in a show that consistently ratchets up the wire-cutting, nail-biting tension. In each series there's a different bomb-based peril, laced with elements of a police procedural so that you follow a complex investigation alongside all the high-stress, high-stakes action. McClure is a charismatic lead, all but carrying the show on her own, especially by series four, which finds the team on the backfoot as a highly organised plot unfolds that pushes even Lana to her already psychologically strained limits. She really does need to stay in therapy, or get a new job... (Four series) Vigil Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie return for a political mystery in the Arctic Year: 2021- Certificate: 15 For this third series we're in the Arctic Circle, setting for many a chilly, claustrophobic mystery, from Ice Station Zebra to Fortitude. As Rose Leslie's DI Kirsten Longacre flies out to Svalbard to investigate the murder of a British national, her partner and boss DCI Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) is left holding the babies while heading up the British side – though if you think Silva has the safer option, think again. The investigation at the Svalbard research station involves a missing Chinese scientist, some uncooperative Russians and a gruffly entertaining Norwegian official and, as the British government also has skin in the game, getting to the truth in this slippery zone of political intrigue is sure to be an uphill struggle. (Six episodes) The Jury: Murder Trial BAFTA-winning legal experiment that re-stages a real-life murder trial – with not one but two juries Year: 2024- Certificate: 12 This compelling, BAFTA-winning show is sure to get you talking. It's the recreation of a murder trial. The twist is that we follow the jurors as they deliberate throughout – something which is strictly prohibited during actual proceedings. In the first series, there were two sets of 12 jurors, all chosen completely at random, just as they are in the real world. Series two pared it down to just one jury, but that didn't detract from the purpose of the show, to shed light on how our justice system works, or it's entertainment value. Because it is entertaining. All of the anonymised real trial cases are far from clear-cut or black and white and that is especially true of the most recent series, which finds a 14-year-old on trial for murdering, with his older brother, their abusive stepfather. And as you listen in on how the juries deliberate, you can't help but ask yourself what you would do if you were asked to decide the fate of the accused. (Three series) The Game (2025 TV Series) Cat and mouse thriller starring Robson Green and Jason Watkins Year: 2025- Certificate: 12 Robson Green and Jason Watkins star in this new four-part thriller which turns a leafy suburban street into the frontline of a battle of wits. Watkins is Huw, a former police detective haunted by a case he couldn't crack – a serial killer known as the Ripton Stalker, who slipped through his fingers and set him on the path to early retirement. As Huw fills his free time with golf and DIY, the arrival of a new neighbour, charismatic Patrick (Green), triggers the all-consuming obsession that Huw never really gave up. Could Patrick be the Ripton Stalker? Or is Huw losing the plot? Watkins excels at playing the beleaguered everyman, of which this is his third such role in a 5 original drama (see also The Catch, Coma). Green, meanwhile, seems to be having fun switching to the dark side, as well as playing an object of a desire for lusty middle-aged women like neighbour Liz (Amy Huberman). This isn't the most original or exciting game of cat and mouse you're likely to see, but Green and Watkins keep it close to tense and suspenseful and as the second series opens, these two still have unfinished business while the bodies keep piling up. (Two series) Stolen Babies Exposing the shameful historic practice of forced adoption in the UK Year: 2026 Certificate: 12 This documentary takes an upsetting and enraging look at forced adoption in the UK. Taking place between 1949 and 1979, it was a practice that separated 250,000 unmarried mothers from their newborns against their will. As one of the contributors points out, it's a scandal that has echoes of The Handmaid's Tale, where a version of morality trumped humanity and where a state-sanctioned 'machine' operated to deprive mostly working-class mothers – described as 'sinful', 'unworthy' and even 'feeble-minded' – of their children to give to middle-class parents, treating the mothers cruelly and their babies as property. A number of women describe their experiences, many of whom became pregnant after youthful, naïve relationships with men who were never held accountable. But there is also the case of a woman raped by her teacher who suffered not only the sadness of having her baby taken from her, but also the shame of being cruelly dismissed by a judge when the teacher was taken to court. Many of the women affected – and that 250k number is only an official estimate – fought for decades to receive an official apology. That came from the devolved governments in the years before the UK government, who finally did so in April of 2026. (88 minutes) Taskmaster Award-winning offbeat comedy challenge show, now in its 22nd series Year: 2015- Certificate: 15 Over the years since this show first aired in 2015, its creator Alex Horne has been asked – again and again – who his dream contestant would be, and he's always named Jack Dee. In the 18th series of this hit comedy panel show, Alex's dream finally came true as Jack took his place alongside fellow comedians Babatunde Aleshe, Rosie Jones and Emma Sidi and The News Quiz's Andy Zaltzman (who was also a massive cricket geek). For the uninitiated, Taskmaster began on Dave, quickly gaining a cult following and an armful of BAFTAs before switching to Channel 4. The emphasis is on the strange and surreal, with contestants asked to complete seemingly impossible challenges in the most original way possible. Taskmaster Greg Davies is best described as dry-as-a-bone, and he goads sidekick 'Little Alex Horne', who clearly does the lion's share of the heavy lifting, while presiding over an enjoyably anarchic game where the prize is a statue of his disembodied head. The line-up for the most recent completed series features comedy legend Armando Iannucci, Gavin & Stacey's Joanna Page, US star Kumail Nanjiani, Joel Dommett and rising comedian Amy Gledhill and, if you've got youngsters who want to join the fun, bleeped and PG-rated versions are also available. New episodes for the 22nd series, featuring comedian Matt Lucas and The IT Crowd's Richard Ayoade, arrive on Channel 4 first. (22 series) Love Cheats True-crime series exposing shocking stories of romance fraud Year: 2024- Certificate: 12 This true-crime series meets people who have been taken in by criminal love rats. These are not mere tales of sneaky infidelity or little white lies, but of truly sinister operators. Take the first story about Megan on the Isle of Wight. The bright and vivacious 20-year-old was swept off her feet by Bertie, a podgy horologist who claimed to be a Lord. He lavished her with expensive gifts, including a car, and proposed to her after four months. But Megan's dream became a nightmare when the truth about 'Lord' Bertie came out (a quick Google early on might have saved her a lot of trouble). There's tales of people faking cancer, of polygamy and serial love scammers leaving behind them a trail of bankrupt and broken hearts. They range around the world, to America and Australia, but the cases all have a link to the UK. It's a well-done series, rich on personal testimony as the victims talk us through how they came to fall for a con artist. If it seems too good to be true, it quite often is. (Two series) Mother Mary Anne Hathaway is a troubled pop superstar in a visually stunning fantasy Year: 2026 Certificate: 15 Mega pop stars from Madonna to Beyonce and Taylor Swift inspire religious followings and so it is with Mother Mary, the fictional pop star portrayed with impressive force and magnetism by Anne Hathaway in this dreamlike fantasy. David Lowery's film is largely a two-hander between Hathaway's Mary and Michaela Coel's Sam Anselm, the designer who made Mary's staggering stage costumes, all featuring an ethereal halo. The two women had an intense bond but a brutal parting of ways. Years later, a bedraggled Mary appears one rainy night at Sam's rural estate requesting a new costume for her comeback concert, one that will make her 'feel like me'. The film's runtime is spent with the two women engaging in a psychological duel, conveying their respective hurt and loss of identity. Its big metaphors are explored through a supernatural thread that uncoils around them, as well as some pretty pretentious dialogue. What keeps you watching through all that are the stunning visuals, and Mother Mary's incredible stage performances. Hathaway won an Oscar for 2012's Les Miserables, and in this she is utterly convincing, singing songs penned by Charlie XCX and FKA Twigs, the latter also making a memorable appearance as a medium. Coel's part is far less showy, but she succeeds in making her character equally as engaging and while the film might leave you baffled, there's no questioning its ambition. (112 minutes) Chad Powers Glen Powell stars as an arrogant quarterback in need of redemption in a comedy that's back for series two Year: 2025- Certificate: 15 Sport is a great setting for redemption stories – it's fundamentally about winning and losing, after all. In this US comedy example, Glen Powell stars as arrogant quarterback Russ Holliday, whose career implodes in the most public way imaginable. Fast forward eight years and Russ is so desperate for redemption that he's willing to go undercover in college football as Chad Powers, a Forrest Gump-style idiot savant, so he can play ball once more. Has Russ learned any lessons from his time in the wilderness, though? Or will the slightest sniff of success send him back to his old ways? The main amusement here comes from Powell, as Russ improvises details about his alter ego's life then has to live with them day after day, painting a picture of an increasingly weird backwoods existence. It's a fun role for the Top Gun: Maverick star, ably supported on the cast by comedy veteran Steve Zahn (as the coach), Toby Huss (as the dad who is tired of him) and Perry Mattfeld (as assistant coach Ricky, who also has something to prove). There's touches of Ted Lasso-style sweetness and absurdity in Chad Powers, but this is generally a drier and more dramatic show than that, and with some very impressive stagings of American football games that make you forget it's actually all made up. It was produced by ESPN, after all. In series two, things are going well on the field for Chad – but less so, off... (Two series) Cold Courage Scandi-Noir vigilante justice comes to London Year: 2020 Certificate: 15 Based on a series of novels by Finnish author Pekka Hiltunen, this series introduces us to the Studio, a covert organisation that goes after powerful forces and organised criminals who otherwise evade justice. The Studio is a vigilante group but their targets are very bad people – extremists, terrorists, human traffickers – making them the heroes of the show, even if they flout the law themselves. The series is primarily set in London where we follow Mari (Pihla Viitala) as she recruits fellow Finn Lia (Sofia Pekkari) to the Studio when Lia becomes concerned for a missing friend. Fans of Nordic Noir who aren't fans of reading subtitles will also appreciate that most of the dialogue is in English. (Eight episodes) Wham! 10 Days In China Unseen and beautifully restored footage captures Wham!'s historic 1985 China tour Year: 2026 Certificate: 12A In 1985, Wham! were one of the biggest pop acts on the planet, with their Make It Big album taken at its word and reaching No 1 in both the UK and the US. Along with Duran Duran and Culture Club, they were part of a Second British Invasion of America, after the first wave led by The Beatles in the mid-1960s. Their global success was sealed when, on April 7 of that year, George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley took to the stage in Beijing, making history as the first Western pop group to perform in China. French solo artist Jean-Michel Jarre had already played a series of concerts there in 1981, but he had nothing like the profile of Wham! and the Western press didn't lap up the event in quite the same way. This is the riveting account of that groundbreaking concert, which includes footage from a documentary made at the time but not released because the director was sacked, as well as plenty of juicy insider details from Ridgeley. (90 minutes) Britain's TikTok Murder The sad story of 62-year-old Army veteran Stuart Crocker, who was murdered by a manipulative TikToker Year: 2026 Certificate: 15 In June 2023, the body of a 62-year-old Army veteran Stuart Crocker was found at his flat in Andover, Hampshire. He'd been stabbed 27 times. What did his murder have to do with TikTok, though? This documentary reveals the story over two parts, featuring interviews with both the authorities and journalists on the Andover Advertiser. We also hear from Stuart's wife, Jennifer Crocker – from whom he was living apart – and his son, Joseph, along with neighbours and friends who help paint a picture of Stuart's life at the time. The TikTok personality Winter Swan-Miller, 37, had been living with Stuart for a while and, after his death, began posting that she had been a 'bad girl' after killing him. She went on to post more about why she was in the right, including claims that Stuart was involved in the theft of her dog. Her posts are reproduced in this documentary, which connects the sad dots as to the why of it all – from alcohol to the fallout from Stuart's Army service to the manipulative personality that took over his life. It's a cautionary tale that casts a chilling light on social media and the delusions that can fuel some of its users. (Two episodes) Star Wars: The Mandalorian And Grogu Movie outing for the bounty hunter and his cute little friend Year: 2026 Certificate: 12 Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is more of a TV special than it is a film, so probably lives better on streaming than it did in the cinemas. The plot follows bounty hunter The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal, under a helmet) and his tiny, cuddly foster child Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) as they accept a job from the New Republic's Colonel Ward (Sigourney Weaver, one of the few women in the cast). Their mission? Rescue Jabba the Hutt's son Rotta, a musclebound slug voiced by The Bear's Jeremy Allen White. The pair travel to a Blade Runner-esque planet, where Rotta is competing in a gladiatorial death tournament. Cue a tooth, claw and tentacle assault of ferocious cage-fighting CGI creatures that sees director Jon Favreau gleefully throw all his toys into the pram. The Mandalorian and Grogu does undeniably deliver when it comes to action with chases, shoot-em-ups, big clanking AT-ATs firing lasers and endless, monster-packed fights filling out its length. What it's not so strong on is good old-fashioned epic storytelling, of the kind that has, in the past, made Star Wars so special. And it's also sorely lacking in suspense. Still, what the film does have is the incredibly cute Grogu – and that cuteness goes a long, long way. (132 minutes) Tea With Judi Dench Featuring Sir Ian McKellen The acting greats swap stories at the home of Dame Judi Year: 2026 Watching actors talk to each other can be very entertaining because they're trained entertainers, but when they're also national treasures, well – it becomes something else entirely. Here, Sir Ian McKellen drops in on Dame Judi Dench (or 'Jude', as he calls her) and starts by digging back to the play that brought them together – The Promise at Oxford Playhouse in 1966, a Russian play performed by three actors. The third was Ian McShane. The pair go on to reflect on the moments their careers crossed over after that, swap stories about the theatre, compare awards and take a stroll through her garden, which features a tree named Birnam Wood – a reference to Macbeth or, as Dame Judi calls it, 'the Scottish play'. Dench and McKellen were both in a 'famously intimate' stage production of Shakespeare's tragedy back in 1976. It was a pretty intimate affair backstage, too, and McKellen remembers receiving underwear as birthday presents from his castmates, who had noticed his pants had 'a few too many holes in them'. Their memories of the terrible movie version of Cats are not as warm. 'I was frightful in the film... Just so you know, I had no control over my CGI ears,' she recalls. (60 minutes) Mayday (2026 film) Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh team up for this Cold War buddy action comedy Year: 2026 Certificate: 12 We're going back to the 1980s in Apple's big buddy action comedy. Set in 1987, it's the story of an American Blackbird pilot who crashes behind enemy lines, and the odd but friendly Russian who helps him. And, in classic 1980s style, these two men are played by apparent cinematic opposites – with knockabout action-comedy veteran Ryan Reynolds as the pilot and Shakespearean cineaste Kenneth Branagh as the sturdy Soviet. Branagh has more form in Reynolds' world than Reynolds does in his, at least behind the camera – he directed Marvel's Thor movie – and looks like he's been putting in the work at the gym for Mayday. And as for the comedy? Well, he's always been great at that, and their double act is decent fun to watch as a result. It's not Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger in Twins, but you can only expect so much. (110 minutes) Welcome To The Family: The Murder Of Dan Markel A divorce and custody battle that led to family conspiracy and murder in Florida Year: 2026 Certificate: 15 When Wendi Adelson filed for divorce from her husband in 2012, she hoped to take her two children with her to southern Florida – but a judge ruled they had to stay with their father, Dan Markel, in Tallahassee. On July 18, 2014, Markel was shot at home and died one day later. These are the opening events of an immensely tangled case that would reveal a family conspiracy and result in five convictions, with the last taking place in 2025. This four-part documentary takes us through every alarming turn of this murderous, real-life soap, which includes outlandish suspects, a murder-for-hire plot and a surprising connection to the Adelson family dentistry business. The series focuses on the members of the Adelson family who, we are told, 'hated' Markel – and hears from those who have not spoken publicly about the case before. These include FBI agent Pat Sanford, who spent half his career toiling away on the case, and Rob Adelson, the oldest and estranged son of the family. Rob says, 'My mom's willing to have me killed for telling the truth.' 'This is scumbaggery of the highest order,' remarks another contributor. It's hard to disagree. (Four episodes) The Runner Gal Gadot and Damian Lewis star in a lean thriller from Kevin Macdonald Year: 2026 Certificate: 15 This is a lean thriller set in London and starring Gal Gadot as a woman on the run, but not in the way that you may think. The Wonder Woman star plays steely lawyer Maia, whose son is abducted by a mysterious baddie. That baddie, voiced by Damian Lewis, rings Maia to tell her she needs to kill her star witness in order to get her son back alive. The clock is ticking, so she's going to need to run across London – and fast. Will Maia be able to run fast enough, and what does all of this have to do with her past? The result is a pulse-pounding and propulsive piece of cinema that gives Gadot plenty of opportunity to display both her athletic and acting abilities as she sprints down canals, collides with things and sweats profusely on the Tube. You probably wouldn't want to be standing next to her during those takes. The Runner is directed by Kevin Macdonald, who's best known for his documentaries (notably Touching The Void and the Oscar-winning One Day In September), and the film certainly has an up-close, documentary feel when it comes to the camerawork. The film as a whole gives a neat London take on the genre of similar women-under-pressure thrillers such as Drop and Run Lola Run. (84 minutes) The Devil's Throat Bulgarian crime drama steeped in local myth and legend Year: 2019-2024 Certificate: 15 This Bulgarian crime series is set in the Rhodope Mountains, a range that extends into Greece and is soaked in myth and legend, most famously as the birthplace of Orpheus, and also known for the underground waterfall at Devil's Throat cave from which the show gets its name. In this area of rolling forest and jagged peaks, a murky murder mystery unfolds that teams state security officer Miya Yazova (Teodora Duhovnikova) with local police chief Filip Chanov (Vladimir Karamazov) when a retired border guard is found posed in grisly fashion, with rumours rife of a connection to the supernatural forces at the Devil's Throat cave. Over the course of the first series, they forge a close partnership, in which their contrasting styles and personalities harmonise and drive the story. The show was a big hit in Bulgaria and Miya and Filip returned to tackle another case, concerning a local judge who is murdered in what seems to be another ritualistic killing. Foreign dramas are often a good way to learn about another culture and, in the case of crime shows, its historic and current fears and anxieties. In Nordic Noir, a common theme explores threats to the social model that Scandinavian countries are celebrated for, through rising immigration and economic inequality. In a lot of post-Soviet countries like Bulgaria, it's the shadow cast by their communist past and rocky transition to democracy that fuels stories of crime and corruption. This is very true of The Devil's Throat, and it's also blended with traditional rural folklore. (Two series)
