Сервис Grab в Малайзии официально отключил бета-функцию «Только для женщин»

Grab Malaysia officially dropped its Women Only Rides Beta feature back in March 2026, strictly meant for female passengers travelling solo or in groups, though women travelling with young boys aged 12 and below are also allowed. Having submitted our Grab profile for verification previously, our account is now confirmed, so we put the system to the test. But first, here are two ways to use this feature. Option one: Advance Booking Booking through Advance Booking follows the standard scheduled ride flow. Step 1: Choose your desired destination. Step 2: Tap the calendar button to set your preferred date and time. Step 3: Tap the selection arrow and select Women Only Rides. You can do this before or after setting the time. Step 4: Select Schedule Standard. Now you are settled and ready to go! Option two: On demand e-hailing Booking an immediate ride works just like a standard on demand GrabCar trip, with one extra step. Step 1: Choose your desired destination. Step 2: Tap the selection arrow and select Women Only Rides. Step 3: Select Book Standard. That’s all. Quite straightforward, right? Experimenting with option two Grab officially claims that Women Only Rides is strictly an Advance Booking service requiring a minimum 75 minute lead time or up to 90 days planning ahead, implying that instant rides are off the table. We were skeptical about this claim because the app tells a completely different story, displaying the Women Only Rides toggle right inside the standard on demand menu. Let’s be real, immediate ride hailing is how most of us actually travel, since almost nobody plans a ride hours in advance unless heading to the airport. To see if instant bookings actually work despite Grab’s official guidelines, we opted to put Option 2 to the test. What was it like to ride under Women-Only Rides? Aside from tapping the Women Only Rides toggle, the booking process and actual journey felt pretty much like any regular ride. Surprisingly, it took under a minute to match with a driver, which suggests there are plenty of female drivers cruising around Klang Valley. That was a pleasant surprise for a feature still tagged as Beta. We also spotted a Women Only Rides tag right next to the car details in the driver profile. It’s a bit unclear whether this popped up because the driver toggled the separate Women Passengers Preferred setting from 2024, but since both features are still in Beta, Grab is clearly working on expanding its female driver pool. As for the actual goal of the feature, the ride felt genuinely safer and much more comfortable, letting us completely kick back and relax on the way to our destination. Our thoughts on Women-Only Rides Despite launching back in March 2026, Grab basically stealth dropped this feature, and it took us months to even spot the in app banner. To unlock it, you must declare your gender in your Grab profile and complete a verification link, which can take up to three business days to approve. As mentioned earlier, while Grab officially claims this feature is only available for Advance Booking, we managed to book a ride instantly without any issues. Grab is also sending mixed signals across its channels. The website claims the feature is restricted to Klang Valley, whereas the app lists Klang Valley, Johor, and Penang. To give Grab the benefit of the doubt, this could simply be a case of their marketing team lagging behind on website updates. However, the banner only pops up when you are physically in Klang Valley, vanishing into thin air once you step outside the border. That location constraint explains why so many passengers missed it in the first place. While the initiative comes from a good place, the verification process feels surprisingly lightweight. Right now, Grab requires a gender profile selection along with an eKYC check that involves an ID upload and a live selfie. To ensure continued safety and prevent account sharing, Grab could introduce random real-time facial re-verification before booking. Otherwise, the actual ride experience delivers on Grab’s promise of safety and comfort for female passengers while supporting women driver partners. It is a solid win on both ends.
