The policy was highlighted as the new academic year began on Monday, with Matthew describing it as a deliberate, long-term government measure aimed at removing financial barriers to education. “I believe this year is one of the most historic years that we’ll have in the education system because, for the first time in Antigua and Barbuda’s history, there is universal free education from early childhood to university,” he told Observer Media. “This was a deliberate policy taken by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda to ensure that finances and resources are no longer a limitation to access to education here in Antigua and Barbuda.” Matthew said the Government is covering major examination and tuition costs, including fees for CSEC, CAPE, AB-CAS and programmes at The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus. “All of these tuition fees have been covered by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda,” he said. “I’m tremendously proud to be a part of that initiative.” Advertisement Advertisement Written by Observer Editor View all posts
