Свидетель трагической гибели музыканта Глена Хансарда отказался продавать свою историю

The passerby was on his way to work in the early hours of Wednesday, July 29, when he came across the scene at the Strawberry Beds in Co Dublin. He said he had no idea the person he had encountered was the well-known musician. "I didn’t know this man personally, he was a husband, a father, a brother, an uncle, a person, a human. And at that moment in the darkness of early morning I had no idea it was Glen." Writing on social media, the man who wishes not to be named, said he felt he needed to put his thoughts into words after passing the same spot one week later. "So I think I need to write this as some way of putting this to bed so I can move on. "I passed by the very spot at the exact time this morning heading to work where flowers are now lying where I came across a person in need of help this day last week." He said he had simply done what he would hope another person would do for him in the same situation. "I did what anyone else would have done for someone in trouble, just like I would hope someone would do for me if I was in trouble." The passerby said he had struggled in the days since the tragedy, but was hopeful he would come to terms with what had happened. "I have for the last few days tried to get on with things but have thought a lot about that morning and have struggled a bit but I am grand and will be ok in time, thinking of his poor wife, child and family at this sad time." He also thanked Hansard’s family, particularly Caroline, for allowing him to attend the funeral mass, and paid tribute to the musician’s friend John Carney for making him feel welcome. He also said attending the funeral had helped him find some closure following the tragedy. "I have found some closure to a terrible tragedy and that’s what it is a tragic accident people need to now let the man rest and let his family grieve." The Good Samaritan also revealed that he had been approached about selling his story, but said there was nothing he wanted to sell. "I was contacted this morning about selling my story, let it be clear there is no story to be sold so no one contact me as I won’t be replying thats why I am writing this." He said he had spent time battling with thoughts about what might have happened differently before accepting that he had done all he could. "After battling with the could haves and what ifs, I have now excepted that I done all I could have possibly done on that morning." He concluded by sending his love and condolences to Hansard’s family. "Sending love and light to his family, may he rest in peace.[sic]" * This article was originally published on Extra.ie.
