GlobalM and Lamhas Satellite Services have announced an agreement to deploy GlobalM’s GMX1 technology as part of Lamhas’ expanding managed IP broadcast infrastructure in India. The companies said the deployment will place GMX1 inside new data center infrastructure in New Delhi and Mumbai, creating locally hosted software-defined media nodes for managed broadcast services. The infrastructure is intended to support live news contribution and distribution, sports coverage and permanent broadcast services, giving Lamhas customers access to scalable IP media transport, routing and processing. Lamhas said it serves more than 250 Indian and international broadcasters and has expanded beyond traditional satellite services into IP and cloud-based video distribution. The new setup will allow Lamhas to operate GlobalM’s software-defined media technology from infrastructure located in India, with services provisioned through the GMX platform. GlobalM said GMX combines media routing, distribution, processing, monitoring and automation within a common operational environment. The architecture is designed to go beyond point-to-point connections, the companies said. The New Delhi and Mumbai deployments will form part of a distributed media infrastructure that can support permanent services as well as dynamically provisioned capacity for news and live sports. GMX1 can also operate with GMX Cloud, allowing Lamhas to combine locally deployed infrastructure with public cloud resources and GlobalM’s wider distributed architecture when additional capacity or international reach is needed.
