В тюрьме округа Франклин установили систему мониторинга здоровья заключенных

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (Heartland News) - The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has recently installed a new state-of-the-art health monitoring system for inmates. The Franklin County Jail installed the new device in a medical holding cell. The system utilizes ultra-wideband radar technology to continuously monitor an inmate’s heart rate, respiratory rate, and motion without requiring wearable devices or direct physical contact by staff. Sheriff Kyle Bacon said this adds an extra layer of protection for both inmates and jail staff. “If we have a detainee who has a heart condition or maybe a sleep disorder, implementing this technology into their care is a big plus for everyone involved. Part of our job is to manage risk and to provide the best care that we can within the jail setting,” said Bacon. The sheriff added that county jails are increasingly being called upon to provide a higher level of medical care due to the long-term and chronic health conditions of many incarcerated individuals. Sheriff Bacon said this technology will provide jail staff with an additional tool to assist in the early detection of a potential medical emergency and allow for a more timely response when an individual’s health condition may be changing. The device cost $7,500 and was made possible by state-issued grant funding.
