Художник Эрик Антонов представил проект «Ре-материализм»: наклейки с портретом Уорхола, которые можно есть

Eric Antonow is an artist best known for the Methaphone, a slab of clear acrylic shaped like a smartphone. The idea of the Methaphone is that it gives you something to hold instead of your phone. You can use it while you are waiting in line or in other situations, like sitting in a cafe; you can look through the slab like a window and see reality instead of pixels. He sent me one, and it actually does have a comforting aspect and is fun to use. A couple of days ago, he sent me an envelope containing a new piece of art you can buy, called "Self-Portrait Banana." It is a sticker that looks like a banana sticker from Chiquita or Dole, except it has an image of Andy Warhol and the word "Banana" on it. Antonow says that this sticker, which costs $1, is "meant to be given away freely and completed through consumption." He describes this kind of as Re-materialism, "a movement that begins where postmodernism ends. After everything has become image and commodity, Re-materialism returns art to the world as something that can be used, shared, eaten, planted, repaired, worn, or inhabited. It refuses to let irony have the final word." He sent me three of the Warhol stickers. I think it's a wonderful idea. I can't wait to buy some bananas, attach the stickers, and give them to my friends. Previously: Boing Boing covered the Methaphone when it launched last year. How I use AI.
