Художник делится опытом росписи камней акриловыми красками и ищет идеальную водостойкую пасту

I've painted rocks for years, off and on. It's less intimidating to paint on a rock than on a canvas, and it is easier to display rocks than canvases. You can just set the rock on a desk, table, or any horizontal surface — no mounting hardware or holes in the wall required. Plus, rocks are free! Also, in my experience, you really can't go wrong with painted rocks. They almost always look pretty good. I can't say the same for painting on board or canvas. I still haven't found a perfect paint to use, though. I like Liquitex Soft Body acrylic paint, but ever since they stopped making the toxic cadmium-based colors, they aren't as opaque as they used to be. I sometimes need to apply several coats of each color to get the level of opacity I want. On the plus side, once it's dry, it's waterproof. More recently, I've been using Holbein Acrylic Gouache. It's made in Japan, and unlike most gouaches, it's very smooth and doesn't show brush strokes. But it isn't waterproof. I guess that's not a big deal, but it bugs me. Maybe there is a fixative spray I can apply? If you know of a smooth, opaque, waterproof paint I should try, let me know!
