The Florida Legends Experience takes over Gainesville for a cause The weekend raised money for Isaiah 117 House GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A trio of Florida Heisman winners and Florida football legends in Steve Spurrier, Tim Tebow and Danny Wuerffel all united over the weekend in Gainesville to host the Florida Legends Experience. The event including the inaugural FL Legends Card Show, bringing collectors, traders and enthusiasts together on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 22-23, at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center in Celebration Pointe. In addition to sports cards, the show featured trading card games such as Pokémon, giving attendees opportunities to browse, buy, sell and trade cards and connect with other collectors. Further, the event selling Gators gear and memorabilia like Grand Slam Collectibles out of Ocala with jerseys, signed helmets and more. RELATED: Gators soccer knocks off No. 3 Florida State Sunday, fans had a chance to meet the trio for photos and chances to even play catch with a football. Into the evening, the Florida Legends Experience Gala took place at Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille at Celebration Pointe in Gainesville. A VIP photo opp took place from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Visors Rooftop at Spurrier’s and featured dinner experiences with one of the three Heisman winners, allowing attendees to dine with the Florida legend of their choice. Proceeds from the event benefitted the Isaiah 117 House, a nonprofit organization that provides safe, welcoming homes for children awaiting foster care placement. The organization currently operates 66 homes across the Southeast and is working to establish a location in Alachua County. Isaiah 117 House offers temporary care for children removed from their homes by providing clean clothing, toys, food and other necessities in a comforting environment while child welfare professionals complete placement arrangements.
