Firewood permits available for Olympic National Forest Published 1:30 am Wednesday, September 2, 2026 OLYMPIA — Personal and commercial firewood permits along with personal fiddlehead permits for Olympic National Forest are available through the U.S. Forest Service’s online e-Permit system. The e-Permits can be obtained at https://epermits.fs2c.usda.gov/forest/0609. Commercial fiddlehead permits and other special forest product permits will not be available through the e-Permit system. “We are excited to provide our communities a more convenient option to get firewood and fiddlehead permits,” said Joyce Hamilla, acting forest supervisor. “E-permits offer greater flexibility and access while we continue to maintain in-person customer service at our offices.” Permits will continue to be available from the Forest Service offices in Olympia, Forks, Quilcene and Quinault. Free use firewood permits will remain free, and previously issued free firewood authorization letters will remain valid through Dec. 31. Office hours and addresses are posted at www.fs.usda.gov/r06/olympic/offices.
