Семья Тейкеров продала гостиницу Coast в Свифт-Керрент после 51 года управления

A Swift Current hotel that's been in one family for more than half a century begins a new chapter as new ownership took over operations yesterday. Turning a page After 51 years, the Thacker family have sold the Coast Swift Current Hotel, a property located off the North Service Road East that harbours 51 years of history. Patti Rogers, a former owner of the Coast Swift Current Hotel, said the hotel has been the Coast Hotel for the past decade; prior to that, it was a Days Inn, and even earlier, it was the iconic Horseshoe Lodge. A long-standing history "We were the first Days Inn in Saskatchewan, and we were a Days Inn for 20 years," she said. "Then, the month that Dad passed away, they said our contract was up; we could sign on, but we would be required to put another floor on. "My siblings and I talked about it with an architect, and it was going to cost around $2.6 million to add another 12 rooms," Rogers continued. "We decided to move to a different franchise and started shopping around for a good fit, and we found Coast Hotel." The Swift Current location was also the first Coast Hotel in Saskatchewan, with most Coast Hotels being located on the West Coast. "The original Horseshoe Lodge was in the shape of a horseshoe, and the swimming pool was in the middle of the horseshoe," said Rogers. "You could drive up to your room, and all the rooms also had an inside door that opened to the pool, and it was a honeymoon destination for North America." Thacker had a connection to not only his guests, but his community. He was president of the Swift Current Shriners Club in 1990, hosted a banquet following the 1986 Broncos bus crash, and was an avid plane enthusiast, owning a Cessna 172 and later, a Cessna 182 Sky Lane. "My siblings and I all went away for university and moved away; none of us ever really had an interest in the business," she added. "My husband and I were retired and lived in Calgary, so we were the closest geographically, and we took over. "I'm really close with my siblings, so if there's any big decisions we do it together, but mostly, I just run the show." Looking ahead The former local expressed that she'll miss the staff, who had become like family after years of working together, some of whom had even worked with her father. Calgary couple, Manny and Ginny Bedi, are now the proud owners of the Coast Swift Current Hotel. Now, Rogers begins preparing for a surgery that will take around a year to recover from, and is looking forward to heading to Japan for a cruise afterwards.
