Житель Эвансвилла арестован за многократные ложные вызовы в службу 911

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - An Evansville man was arrested Monday evening after police say he repeatedly called 911, including once to complain about his neighbor grilling. Robert Pickerill, 65, was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on a charge of misuse of 911. According to a police report, an EPD officer was dispatched to an apartment complex on West Maryland Street Monday evening for a harassment report. Police say Pickerill called 911 and advised dispatchers that he did not have an emergency, but that his neighbor was grilling and he needed an officer. The responding officer called Pickerill and explained that his neighbor was allowed to grill. Police say Pickerill became upset and then claimed his neighbor threatened him. When officers arrived at the apartment complex, they say Pickerill refused to answer his door, even after dispatchers tried calling him twice. The officer warned Pickerill through the door that 911 was for emergencies only and that he could be arrested if he called again without an emergency. About 10 minutes later, police say Pickerill called 911 again to report that officers told him he was going to jail. When officers returned to the apartment, they say Pickerill yelled at them through the door to leave and denied calling 911 a second time. According to the affidavit, Pickerill eventually opened the door, was detained, and claimed someone else had used his phone. Police say they reviewed recordings and confirmed Pickerill made both calls. According to dispatch records, Pickerill had called 911 seven times in the last month and 58 times since March of this year.
