Оркестр Orquestra Pacífico Tropical выпустил новый альбом с гипнотическими ритмами кумбии

El Poder - Label Orquestra Pacífico Tropical - Musicians Orquestra Pacífico Tropical - Review Date September 2026 It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to suggest this album should carry a Parental Advisory sticker for ‘excessive rhythm’. The cumbia diaspora has expanded far beyond Latin America, reaching Portland, the beautiful city in Oregon, up in the Pacific Northwest. In a landscape so unusual for Caribbean rhythms, Orquestra Pacífico Tropical stands out as a tropical big band with an overwhelming sound, a festive groove and psychedelic undertones. They are much more than a mere novelty; their take on cumbia shines through superb horn arrangements that often recall the brass sections of classic salsa bands. The repertoire is relentless. The opening track, ‘El Poder’, feels like a statement of intent, turning the dance floor into a platform for liberation. ‘Fantasma’ stands out for its hypnotic nature – a rhythmic trance that makes it impossible to stay still. ‘Entre la Montaña’ blends Andean vibes into a carnival-like bacchanal. ‘Desierto’ is an uptempo ode to shamanic trips (‘smoking space dust, we travel there!’), and ‘Escalofriante’ could easily be the soundtrack to a cumbia-zombie movie. ‘Diablada’, which closes the album, is a Peruvian festejo of delicate charm.
