Городской совет Корпус-Кристи рассмотрит проект расширения пекарни El Bolillo с созданием 121 вакансии

CORPUS CHRISTI, Tx — A Houston-based bakery is one step closer to bringing its business to the city's westside. On Thursday morning, the Corpus Christi Type B Board voted to give El Bolillo Bakery up to $363,000 in business incentives. The Mexican bakery wants to convert the former Walgreens at 2101 Morgan Avenue into a wholesale production facility and retail bakery. The project is expected to create 121 full-time jobs and bring more than $3.6 million in capital investment. Now that the Type B Board has approved the deal, the issue will go before the city council for their approval. El Bolillo Bakery eyes Corpus Christi expansion that could bring more than 120 jobs to westside Alex Garcia, vice president of the Westside Business Association, said the project is exactly the kind of opportunity the area needs. "If they bring jobs to the area, that's what it's about because there's so many people that are in need," Garcia said. Garcia said the bakery could also serve as a stepping stone for workers looking to build a career. "Maybe starting here, moving up and growing with the company…" Garcia said. For residents on the westside, the hope is straightforward: more business, more jobs and a new use for a property that has been sitting empty.
