Doylefest is marking its 12th year with 46 musical acts, cultural programming, camping, and a focus on community at Eagle Creek Regional Park.
The festival began as a birthday party for organizer Eliza Doyle after she moved onto land outside Asquith, Sask. Doyle, a musician, invited friends who were also musicians, and the gathering quickly grew into an annual event.
"Doylefest started as a birthday party," Doyle said.
What began with a flat-deck trailer as a stage eventually outgrew Doyle's property. The festival moved to Eagle Creek Regional Park in 2019, where Doyle said it began to take off.
The event also helped lead to the creation of the Community Arts Mentorship Program, a nonprofit that works in remote and underserved Indigenous communities.

Music and cultural programming
Doyle said 46 acts are scheduled this year, with musicians donating their time to the community celebration and fundraiser.
More stages have been added over the years to accommodate the number of musicians who want to participate. The Bridge Stage was added last year, while a cultural pavilion was introduced in 2024.
The cultural pavilion includes traditional food, games, and cultural arts. Doyle said the programming reflects the nonprofit's work with Indigenous communities.
The festival will also feature a children's area, food vendors, disc golf, mini golf, a nine-hole golf course, and access to Eagle Creek for swimming and paddling.
Cabaret and reconciliation
The main stage wraps up at 10:30 p.m., followed by cabaret performances inside the hall.
The New Daydream and Cupid's Heart are scheduled for Friday night, while The Glass Hand Family Band and Banastronaut are scheduled for Saturday. A Campfire Jam is also planned.
Friday's cabaret is licensed, while Saturday's is all ages.
A reconciliation workshop is scheduled for Saturday from 5 to 6 p.m. away from the main stage.
Doyle said participants have found the workshop meaningful, with discussions about reconciliation, action plans, and ways to become more involved with the nonprofit.
Volunteers needed
Organizers are still looking for volunteers to help at the gate, sell tickets, work at the cabaret, and assist in the children's area.
Doyle said the festival typically aims for 20 to 30 volunteers, in addition to its 11-member board.
Volunteers work a total of six hours, split into two three-hour shifts, and receive a weekend pass, food, and camping.
Those interested can contact the Community Arts Mentorship Program or look for Doylefest online.
Tickets and camping
Day tickets are $35 for Friday or Saturday, while weekend passes are $50.
Sunday is free or by donation.
Doyle said internet and cellular data can be limited at the park, so tickets purchased at the gate must be paid for with cash. Tickets can also be purchased in advance.
Camping is booked separately through Eagle Creek Regional Park. The park offers electrical sites, tenting areas, and overflow camping.
Doyle said the festival's community atmosphere is one of its biggest draws.
"One of the biggest things is definitely the community aspect, and everybody there is there for a cause, and they're just so nice," she said.
Doyle also thanked Eagle Creek Regional Park, the festival's board, and the musicians who donate their time.
For the first time, the festival has received funding from Canadian Heritage to help support this year's event, Doyle said.
