Нигерийский студент благодаря помощи друга получил визу в США и пригласил жену в Америку

The story I’m sharing this week is about the journey of a young man who arrived in my city here in the US about two years ago. This story began when a friend of mine, who was visiting Nigeria, came across the young man in a Lagos church. For the sake of this piece, I’ll call my friend Susan, and the young man Jimmy. That’s not their real name. My friend Susan observed Jimmy as he served and multi-tasked with unparalleled passion and noticeable grit in a few departments in the church. She desired to find out who he was. Susan hails from the South-West region of Nigeria, while Jimmy is from the South-East. And both were meeting for the first time. Jimmy’s restless passion spurred Susan to approach a few people in the church, including the pastor and his wife, to ask who this guy was. Everyone she spoke with had great and commendable things to say about the young man. She drew him close to her during her visit to Lagos, just to size him up, as she continued in prayer to determine what God wanted her to do with her new find. Jimmy’s father died some years back, and the family was struggling to make ends meet in Lagos. Life was tough. The state of the nation’s struggling economy made matters worse. Susan later asked Jimmy what his plan was for the future. He didn’t hold back. He confessed he desired to travel outside of Nigeria to pursue higher learning. Susan did not make any promises. But inside of her, she took it upon herself to find a university in my town for the young man to pursue his dream. To cut the long two-year story short, Jimmy was offered admission to a university in my town. Like a dream with its roots embedded in the throne of Grace, Jimmy was on a Delta Airlines flight from Lagos en route to Atlanta, to my city in America. Who said dreams don’t come to pass when God’s right hand is in them? When Jimmy arrived in town, Susan introduced him to me as she relayed the whole story. I kept my eyes on him. It didn’t take too long to observe that his passion for the things of God is unparalleled, and the leadership quality he possesses spoke loudly and unmistakably. Unlike some young people who immigrated from Nigeria with chips on their shoulders, believing they are omniscient, the young man went about his duties with so much candor and respect for everybody. These virtues are obviously in his personality. His parents taught and groomed him well. American education without scholarships and financial aid is ruthlessly expensive. I knew a day would come when Jimmy would be unable to continue as an international student because of a lack of funds. That means he would run out of immigration status and eventually be deported back home. That didn’t sit right in my spirit. Then something surged in me. This young man, a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ in his own right, must remain here to fulfill his life’s vision and help his aged mother back home. One day I called him and offered to help change his status with the government. Without money and without being paid, I began the process. Within six months, America said “yes” to my request for him! A few days ago, the young man’s wife arrived in the US to visit as a beneficiary of the process I started about a year ago. The two decided to stop by my house. Readers, I shed some tears. Why? That God used me and my friend to affect the lives of two strangers we didn’t know from Adam caused tears to flow freely! Readers, every breathing being is a product of help. No successful man or woman succeeded entirely alone without a helping hand from somebody somewhere. No president, governor, senator, billionaire businessman, or woman pulled it off to the acme of achievement without the interjection of some form of help somewhere along their journeys of life. Someone encouraged us, taught us, prayed for us, opened a door, or gave us another chance to do what we desired. This writer got this far in life because of people’s help. Help is an instrument of assistance from God, who is our Ever-Present Help in times of need. Help enables a person to carry a burden he cannot ordinarily carry. It empowers him to run a race he cannot ordinarily run. Help makes it easy for a man to achieve a feat he cannot ordinarily achieve by his own power and might. Everybody needs help. The king on his throne needs it. The queen on her royal seat requires it. The prince waiting on the wings for a transfer of wealth desires it. The princess relocating wealth to another man’s house wants it. The poor dream of getting help, and so do the rich. The helpless hunger for help; so does a man who has the power to help. A pastor praying for help for the helpless needs help. Men in Help Ministry need help, and this writer also needs help in some areas; I’ve been seeking God’s face for some time. My friends, every helper also needs help. Before a page of testimony is opened, you must first read through pages of tests. Before a song of praise is sung publicly, you must first be ready to rehearse through scripts of pain privately. Writers of hymnals of praise have once been preachers of the sermons of pain. And when these dire seasons of life come with or without announcements, you need help to rise above turbulence. The greatness of a man is not measured by how many people serve him, but by how many people are made better because he served them. Even when no one applauds, keep doing good. Do good when you can, where you can, and to whom you can. When you do good by other people’s children, God will not forget about yours. The good you release into another person’s life may become the seed that rescues your own tomorrow. - X-@FolaOjotweet
