В штате Оклахома открыли туристический сезон в очаровательном городе Дيزни с озером и джип-трейлами

Between Tulsa And Springfield Is Oklahoma's Charming Small Town With Lake Fun, State Parks, And Trails It might come as a surprise to hear that Disney, Oklahoma, did not take its name from the amusement park extravaganza created by Walt. The town was, in fact, named after the former U.S. Congressman Wesley E. Disney, who served in the 1930s, and it's a place that defies the image of the dry, open plains we might typically associate with the Sooner State. Disney sits along the eastern shore of the Grand Lake O' the Cherokees, giving it stunning lake views on three sides. To the south, the Grand River branches into a Y before meeting the towering Pensacola Dam with the lake on the other side, creating lush landscapes that offer multiple state park areas, trails, and plenty of outdoor adventure. Tucked in the northeast of the state, Disney is located about an hour from Tulsa and just over two hours southwest of Springfield, Missouri. It has a tiny population of below 200, but the town's website claims that the number can increase almost tenfold during certain events. No matter the population size, Disney is a charming nature escape worth adding to any itinerary. The community sits on the shore of one of the largest lakes in the state, making it a great spot for a fishing getaway or family boating trip. There are also multiple areas of Grand Lake State Park within town limits that have camping options tucked in the trees or along the lakeshore, while the surrounding area is crisscrossed with ORV trails that make Disney a renowned hub for off-roading. Escape the heat with days on the lake, do some rock crawling in side-by-sides with a group of friends, or simply cast lines from the quiet shore; Disney, Oklahoma, is an amusement park for outdoor enthusiasts. Fun on the lake, trails, and outdoor activities in Disney, Oklahoma The northeast of Oklahoma is often referred to as Green Country because it's a lush lake-filled region with wild natural beauty, and Disney perfectly fits that mold. If you're looking to get onto Grand Lake O' the Cherokees, the public launch just east of town makes it easy for those with their own boat or kayak, while Rocks & Docks Adventure Rentals on Main Street has pontoons and jet skis available to rent. The lake covers nearly 50,000 acres, so there's more than enough space to cruise, go tubing with the family, or fish for bass, bluegill, crappie, and more. While a lot of the outdoor action centers on the lake, there's plenty to do offshore as well. The Grand River below the Pensacola Dam provides more opportunities to paddle, fish, and birdwatch. For golfers, the Grand Cherokee Golf Course is located within the Disney area of Grand Lake State Park, less than 10 minutes from downtown Disney. It's a nine-hole course with a practice green, driving range, pro shop, and views of the Pensacola Dam. You can spend quiet days on the links or floating in a pontoon, but Disney is famous for a more adrenaline-pumping activity: off-roading. The dam spillways and surrounding landscape have rocky shelves, rolling hills, and all-around great terrain for off-roading. Much of the land is owned and managed by the Grand River Dam Authority, and there are miles of trails and hills to climb. Hogans Off Road Park is another recreation spot a mile outside of town for riding, and the aforementioned Rocks & Docks Adventure Rentals can set you up with two- or four-person off-road vehicles for a day on the trails with a group of friends. State park areas and making the most of a trip Disney and the Grand Lake O' the Cherokees are relatively popular destinations, so it's easy to find accommodation to fit your travel style. There are affordable motels, cabin rentals, and vacation homes, from humble two-bedroom places to luxury waterfront options that sleep up to 12 and feature a game room and patio overlooking the lake. Several areas of Grand Lake State Park are within a short drive of Disney, with multiple campgrounds of different sizes and amenities. The Lakeside and Grand View Campgrounds are on either side of Disney's peninsula and offer modern RV or tent sites near the water, with Lakeside boasting a swimming beach. Just south of town and near the Pensacola Dam, the Riverside Campground is more stripped-back with tent sites, while the Grand Cherokee Campground has RV sites with electric hookups. Finally, the Little Blue Area is southeast of Disney, sitting along a quiet river with clear water and a swimming hole, offering 30 more primitive tent sites — rugged campsite or not, these DIY camping hacks can improve your outdoor adventure. If you need supplies, something to take on the boat, or a meal after a long day on the trails, Chezzie's Disney Convenience Store has a bit of everything to grab and go. To sit on a terrace with lake views for a burger and cold beverage, Mooney's Sunset Bar & Grill is a local favorite that boasts a strong rating from nearly 500 reviews on Google Maps. For more nature vibes in the region, you can hike in Natural Falls State Park, Oklahoma's underrated haven of mossy rocks, lush greenery, and a cascading waterfall.
