Невеста и жених сделали свадебные фото на новой границе США и Канады

Detroit newlyweds take wedding photos atop new Gordie Howe International Bridge Photographer Montez Miller says conditions were ideal, bridge-goers gracious The exact border line between Canada and the United States on the Gordie Howe International Bridge has become a hotspot for photography in the month since the bridge opened — but a Detroit couple says they believe their wedding photos are the first of that kind. Chris Shreve, who married Taisha Shreve last weekend, says he got the idea while taking a walk on the bridge earlier this month. "Well, the bridge itself is just a masterpiece. And you don't really get that until you get on it and you're around it and you see the magnitude and beauty of it," he said. The new Mrs. Shreve says she initially wondered how she'd manage walking on the bridge in her delicate white gown. "I was like, Okay, I could put my gym shoes on, and put my dress up," Taisha told CBC Windsor. "I could do it, you know? So that's when I decided this would be the perfect idea, the perfect shot." The photo shoot took place on the evening of Aug. 21 — just a couple of hours after the couple's marriage ceremony in Detroit. Joined by photographer Montez Miller and her assistant Purdy Williams, the couple made the 1.5-kilometre hike to the border marker in their full wedding finery. "I was sweating a little bit," Taisha admitted. "But you know, my makeup artist did a great job. So it held up and everything... I feel like I looked like I was on the cover of a magazine. It was beautiful." Miller, who has been documenting Detroit in images for the past 12 years, says she's grateful the conditions were ideal: Skies were clear, the sun was shining, wind was low, and even the traffic was relatively light. Other walkers, cyclists and photo-seekers were gracious about the shoot, Miller said. To the best of her knowledge, no one had attempted to take bride and groom pics on the Gordie Howe International Bridge before. "If they were going to stop us, or if we were doing something they didn't want to happen, they had a chance to stop us before we even entered the bridge," she said. "But everybody was so kind." Community response to the photos has been so positive, Miller and the Shreves wonder if they've started a new summer trend. And they're quite appreciative of the symbolism of the pics. "Just seeing [the couple] against the background, it was the perfect picture for that moment," Miller said. "Newly married, and a newly built bridge." Chris Shreve says he has family history in Windsor-Essex, going all the way back to 19th-century Black activist Mary Ann Shad, who was a distant blood relation. "You know, my father is from Canada. Half my family is from the Canadian side," Shreve said. "And so that was an extra added thing... We hope in these sort of interesting political times that we don't lose the love that we have for the Canadian people. And that they don't lose that for us." Taisha agrees. "Basically, that moment [on the bridge] was about love and unity. You know, two countries marrying each other. We love Canada — Canada loves us."
