In August, MySA spoke with Elizabeth Lyons Houston, co-owner and vice president of Casa Rio, who confirmed that The Night Heron will be an adjacent rooftop bar featuring both indoor and outdoor space, where customers can order from a menu of cocktails, natural wines and small plates. A project details page filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) on August 25 added more context to the mix. The Night Heron at Casa Rio, which will cost an estimated $3.5 million to build and encompass 4,000 square feet, is expected to begin construction of the rooftop bar addition on September 21, with a projected completion date of October 29, 2027, according to the TDLR filing. "The name comes from the night herons that live along the San Antonio River, which felt perfect for a concept that's so connected to the river and comes alive a little more in the evening," Lyons Houston previously told MySA. "It's especially meaningful to be working on something new as Casa Rio celebrates its 80th anniversary." MySA will continue to provide updates on The Night Heron as the project continues to take shape on the San Antonio River Walk. Find it: 430 E.
