A new integration aims to streamline the journey from obstructive sleep apnea diagnosis to treatment by connecting prescribers and home medical equipment providers through a digital workflow.
Key takeaways:
- Daybreak has joined Parachute Health, marking its first entry into eprescribing for home medical equipment.
- The integration allows physicians to refer patients for custom-fit oral sleep appliances using their existing digital ordering workflows.
- The partnership provides access to more than 300,000 clinicians and 3,000 HME provider locations nationwide.
Daybreak has joined Parachute Health, an eprescribing platform for home medical equipment (HME), to simplify the referral process for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) treatments.
The integration marks Daybreak’s first entry into eprescribing, making its end-to-end, at-home diagnostic and treatment solutions available to more than 300,000 clinicians and prescribers, 3,000 HME provider locations, and 70,000 facilities and health systems nationwide.
“Obstructive sleep apnea remains widely underdiagnosed and undertreated in the US, in part because the path from testing to treatment has historically been fragmented across multiple systems and providers,” says Wesley Lones, founder and CEO of Daybreak, in a release. “By joining Parachute Health, it continues our broader mission to increase access to care, shorten time to treatment, and simplify a therapy pathway that has long been disjointed for both patients and the providers who treat them.”
Providers using the Parachute Health platform can now refer patients directly to Daybreak within the same workflow used for other HME orders. Following an OSA diagnosis, an impression kit is sent to the patient for a custom-fit Daybreak device, an FDA-cleared mandibular advancement device designed to relieve snoring and sleep apnea by gently moving the lower jaw forward to open the airway.
“Physicians already place HME orders through Parachute’s platform as part of their normal workflow, so a sleep apnea referral to Daybreak now works the same way,” says Eric Mongeau, chief commercial officer of Daybreak, in a release. “Eprescribing through Parachute Health turns what used to be a multi-day back-and-forth into a streamlined digital process.”
For HME providers, the integration allows them to use established pathways to request and receive prescriptions and clinical documentation. This aims to shorten the time required to generate signed prescriptions and reduce administrative burdens.
“Parachute strives to decrease the friction between prescribers, HME providers, and patients through our digital workflows. We are pleased to make Daybreak available to prescribers utilizing our platform,” says Rob Boeye, EVP, commercial leader, HME at Parachute Health, in a release.
Daybreak is currently live and accepting orders through the platform.
