The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce celebrated LaGrange’s newest auto shop, Davis Tire & Auto, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday afternoon. Davis Tire & Auto is a full-service auto repair and tire shop with 15 locations across Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. The location can do everything from tire sales and oil changes to advanced auto repair, including brakes, alternators, water pumps and A/C work. Rocky Lucas, director of business development for Davis Tire Group, said that unlike other regional tire groups, they haven't sold out to a private equity group and are not part of a larger national chain. “We were started in Lee County, Alabama, in Auburn, in the Opelika market, and our corporate headquarters are still in Opelika. The guy that started the company still owns the company,” Lucas said. Founder Brandon Davis started working in the automotive and tire industry while studying at Auburn University and later established the business, which has since expanded into the multi-location tire and auto repair network across the region. The company is excited to be in the LaGrange market, having been very familiar with the area and having started in the nearby Auburn-Opelika area. “We're just excited about being good community partners. We have that reputation as well as being good community partners everywhere else. We're starting to get more and more involved in the community,” Lucas said, noting they recently partnered with the Troup County School System for an event at Callaway Stadium. Joe Jordan, regional vice president, said he started with the company when it had three locations. The first was Tiger Tire, which was the first and is still the largest location by volume. Davis opened that location in 2012 and purchased H&W Tire shortly thereafter. “From 2022, we have grown from three locations to 15. So, we've had some rapid expansion,” Jordan said, adding that they are the largest independently owned tire chain in the Southeast. Lucas said they’re big enough to get discounts from tire manufacturers, but small enough to really be able to provide good customer service. “We have been very fortunate with growth, especially over the last five or six years, to have buying power with our partners and our suppliers, whether that be tires, whether it be parts, which drives prices down,” Lucas said. “We really try to stay competitive, which in a world where you usually have to pick customer service or pricing, we really try to give you both, and have been successful giving great customer service, no matter what. That's what the company was built on.” Davis Tire & Auto has been officially open in LaGrange since May 1. Lucas said they had a bit of a slow start due to some renovation issues, but they are now fully operational. Davis Tire & Auto is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 1201 Hogansville Rd. in LaGrange.
