В округе Куяхога запустили автопарк с камерами для обновления кадастровых данных

Cuyahoga County deploys camera-equipped cars to update property records Vehicles will photograph every parcel in the county over the next 10 weeks CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Cuyahoga County’s Fiscal Office is using a fleet of specialized vehicles from a company called Cyclomedia to photograph every parcel in the county. The cars, equipped with cameras mounted on top, will be driving through neighborhoods over the next several weeks. Cars to capture ground-level images Cuyahoga County Commercial Appraisal Manager Lou Gentile said the vehicles will be out for weeks. “They’re going to be traveling throughout the county over the next ten weeks to capture ground level photography for the appraisal for a number of areas,” Gentile said. County Geographic Information Administrator Tom Fisher said the process is an upgrade from previous methods. “It used to be that the county would send an individual person out with a board and put the parcel identification number and they would take a picture with the person standing in front of the house,” Fisher said. The cars capture 360-degree images and use laser mapping technology to measure homes remotely. County cites savings in time and money Gentile said the new method keeps appraisers off the road. “From an efficiency standpoint this allows us to do a lot of work from our desk, instead of traveling all over the county racking up mileage that the county has to pay for,” Gentile said. The imagery will feed into the county’s 2027 triannual property update. Privacy protections built into imagery Cyclomedia Account Executive Bill Wetzel said privacy protections are included in the process. “All imagery we have we blur faces and license plates,” Wetzel said. “Sometimes we’ll get a call hey my kids were in the front lawn, can you blur those out, yes we can,” Wetzel said. County officials said the technology is already standard practice elsewhere. Franklin, Lake and Delaware counties use it too. Wetzel said the information collected is stored in a web-based application accessible to the county with secure logins. Appraisal values unaffected by imagery Gentile said the imagery will not change how a home’s value is determined. “It’s important to keep in mind that the appraisal office does not set the values as far as what the market is doing, the sales are what sets the market,” Gentile said. With 525,000 parcels to capture, officials said the process will not be perfect. Copyright 2026 WOIO. All rights reserved.
