Kimber Crull, manager of internal and executive communications for Missouri University of Science and Technology, was one of six employees named a 2026 recipient of the inaugural Curators’ Outstanding Staff Award.  University of Missouri Board of Curators recognized six employees from across the UM System with this new yearly honor. Awardees were announced during the curators meeting held Sept. 3 on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. Three staff members were chosen from MU (including MU Health Care and the UM System) and one each from University of Missouri-Kansas City, University of Missouri-St. Louis and Missouri S&T. Recipients were nominated by their campus leaders and approved by the Board of Curators. “These honorees exemplify the dedication, professionalism and service-minded leadership that help our university thrive,” says Todd P. Graves, chair of the University of Missouri Board of Curators. “Their work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt every day.” Crull joined Missouri S&T’s staff in 2008 as an undergraduate advising assistant for the mechanical and aerospace engineering department. It was her work on several communications tasks, including the department’s newsletter, that displayed her proclivity in the field and led to an official communications role in mechanical and aerospace engineering in 2012. Ten years later, she joined S&T’s marketing and communications team in her current position. As manager of internal and executive communications, she leads strategic communications for S&T’s faculty, staff and leaders. “Her quality of work is high, yet she is open to feedback and always strives to improve. She is efficient and productive, carrying a large workload,” one nominator wrote. “She has worked relentlessly to help educate individuals and teams about the new standards and available resources. When she doesn’t know the answer to something, she will find out the answer or the appropriate expert on campus and connect them.” Crull says she feels “incredibly honored and humbled” to receive the award. “After 18 years at S&T, I’m especially grateful for the incredible people I’ve had the opportunity to learn from and work alongside,” she says. “This recognition reflects the teamwork, mentorship and relationships that have shaped my career.” A proud Miner, Crull holds two degrees from Missouri S&T: a bachelor’s degree in business management and management systems and an MBA. In December, she will earn a master’s degree in journalism, with an emphasis in strategic communication, from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Kimber and her husband, Tom, live near Cuba, Missouri. They have one daughter, Rylie, a 2026 graduate of Cuba High School and nursing student at East Central College. Kimber enjoys baking, cooking, gardening and making memories with friends and loved ones.
