Автомобиль врезался в дом в Харрисонбурге: эвакуация и перекрытие дорог

Car crashes into Harrisonburg home, causing nearby evacuations HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - South High Street in Harrisonburg was shut down between Grace Street and Maryland Avenue on Monday afternoon after a car crashed into a home, according to city officials. Michael Parks, the city of Harrisonburg’s director of communications and public engagement, told WHSV a car ran off the road into the side of a home in the 600 block of South High Street. Nobody was inside the building at the time of the crash, Parks said. There was only person in the vehicle, and they were receiving medical treatment at the scene. The crash required many first responders, including Dominion Energy, as the car hit the house right where gas lines connect, Parks sad. Dominion was there to ensure whether it was safe to remove the vehicle from the building, he added. All surrounding houses were evacuated due to the risk. As of 3:45 p.m., the gas line was clamped, which was first responders’ main concern, Parks said. The affected house was in the process of being aired out with industrial fans, as gas lingered through the building. As of 5:10 p.m., HPD said two southbound lanes and one northbound lane of South High Street have reopened, but Ohio Avenue between High Street and Roosevelt Street are still closed. HPD said an “extended closure” is expected with traffic backups in the area. To travel either north or south through the city, HPD is diverting traffic onto Main Street. This is a developing story.
