Школа North Lakes Academy объединила здания для борьбы с падением числа учеников

North Lakes Academy, a charter school in Forest Lake, started a new chapter on Monday, Aug. 31, welcoming its K-12 students back to school at its consolidated building, which previously served as the lower school. NLA made the decision earlier this year to merge its lower and upper school into one building, starting in the 2026-27 school year, because of financial trouble and declining enrollment. The upper level of the building is occupied by sixth through 12th grade students, with kindergarten through fifth grade on the lower level. NLA's enrollment sits at 345 students, as of its last board meeting report on Monday, Aug. 17. The school hovered around 400 students for most of last year, according to executive director John Groenke, who called this a "transition year" for the charter school and told the Times in July: “First and foremost is creating that environment for our kids to thrive, providing high-quality instruction so our kids can learn, and putting that product out there where we attract other families that want to come and be part of something special."
