Leave it all on the mountain.” SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — If you ever had the privilege of spending time with Clinton Thomas Welch, you already know a room changed the moment he walked into it. Not because he demanded attention, but because he gave it so freely and fully to everyone around him. Clint passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 53 years old, leaving behind a world that is quieter, and a whole lot less fun, without him in it. Born Aug. 21, 1972, and raised in Cape Girardeau, with roots that would ultimately anchor him in the breathtaking Pacific Northwest, Clint built a life that mirrored the landscape he loved: expansive, rugged and absolutely alive. Mead, Washington, was home base, but the mountains, trails and open roads were his true domain. Clint devoted nearly 24 years to Boston Scientific as a medical surgical representative, covering the Northwest with the same energy and dedication he brought to every corner of his life. He wasn’t just good at his job; he was exceptional at it, because Clint genuinely cared about the people he served. He had an extraordinary ability to connect with anyone, make them feel seen, and leave every interaction better than he found it. His colleagues didn’t just respect him; they admired him. His clients didn’t just trust him; they counted on him. Ask anyone who spent time with Clint outdoors and they’ll tell you the man had no off switch. Whether he was carving down a ski slope, grinding up a mountain on a bike, scaling a rock face, lacing up for a hike, or setting up camp under a canopy of Pacific Northwest stars, Clint threw himself into it completely. Outdoor adventure wasn’t a hobby for him; it was a language he spoke fluently, and he loved nothing more than teaching others a few new words. Off the trail, you’d likely find him spending time with his collection of vehicles. Clint was a passionate automobile enthusiast with a deep appreciation for the machines that moved him literally and figuratively. There was a craftsmanship to the way he approached cars that mirrored how he approached everything: with care, curiosity and a healthy dose of enthusiasm. Beneath the energy and the laughter and the relentless pursuit of the next adventure, Clint was spiritually grounded in a way that shaped everything about him. His faith wasn’t something he kept private. It was woven into who he was, how he treated people, and how he approached the world. It gave him a steadiness that those who knew him well recognized and admired deeply. He was the kind of person who made you believe things were going to be OK, not because he said so, but because the way he carried himself made it feel true. Clint was a proud father to two remarkable kids. Calvin Welch, 19, and Reese Welch, 17, and former spouse/mother of both boys, Kim Welch, carry forward the best of everything Clint was. Anyone who saw Clint with his children saw a different kind of love come through, one that was fierce and fun and absolutely unconditional. He is survived by his brother, Tim Welch, 61, of St. Petersburg, Florida; his sister, Angie James, 59, of Hemphill, Texas; three nieces, Dylan Welch of Nashville, Tennessee, and Atalie James and Kelsie James, both of Nacogdoches, Texas; and a nephew, Charlie Welch of Tampa, Florida — all of whom loved him fully and will miss him every single day. Clint was preceded in death by his father, Tom Welch, and his mother, Marilyn Beaver, who surely welcomed him with open arms. A celebration of the extraordinary life of Clinton Thomas Welch was held Saturday, June 27, at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Road in Spokane Valley. Clint didn’t just live life — he inhaled it. He exhaled joy. And every single person he touched was better for having known him. Rest easy, Clint. The mountains will remember you.
