Business Digest: SDS Petroleum Consultants announces CFO transition Published 5:10 am Wednesday, September 2, 2026 SDS Petroleum Consultants has announced the retirement of longtime Chief Financial Officer Ken Goolsby and the appointment of Mitchell McCoy as his successor. Goolsby has been associated with SDS since 1999 and has served as CFO since 2018. “During his tenure, he provided financial leadership as SDS experienced significant growth, helping establish the financial discipline and stability that supported the company’s expansion into one of the largest consulting firms in the United States,” the company said in a statement. “With more than 40 years of accounting and financial experience, including extensive work with oil and gas companies, Goolsby brought a deep understanding of the industry and a measured financial approach to SDS. His guidance and stewardship have been instrumental to the company’s development.” McCoy joined SDS in January 2026 as controller after 13 years with Curtis Blakely & Co., where he began as a staff accountant in 2013 and advanced to partner in 2022 before the firm’s merger with a large middle-market accounting firm. Since joining SDS, McCoy has worked closely with management on financial reporting, analysis, forecasting and strategic planning, the company said, adding that his transition to CFO provides continuity while bringing new leadership to SDS’s financial operations. “We are excited about Mitchell taking on this role and the future of SDS,” said Scott Stovall, founder and president of SDS Petroleum Consultants. “He has quickly become an important part of our leadership team, and we believe his experience and knowledge of SDS position him well to build on the foundation Ken established.” McCoy earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Professional Accountancy from Stephen F. Austin State University. — Share your news: Send news of new hires, job changes, promotions, awards, training completed and other news for consideration in the next business digest.
