В Лос-Анджелесе пройдет крупнейшая в Африке конференция по передаче бизнеса и созданию наследия

Second edition holds September 25, 2026, at the Eko Convention Centre, headlined by GTBank co-founder and FATE Foundation Chairman Fola Adeola, and building on a maiden gathering that sold out at 1,381 attendees, a House of Tara case study now adopted for teaching at Stanford Graduate School of Business, and a four-city East Africa tour for convener Tara Fela-Durotoye The Building Beyond You Institute, a business development and legacy hub, is welcoming registrations for the second edition of the Building Beyond You Conference, holding Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos. Convened by Tara Fela-Durotoye, founder of House of Tara International, the one-day gathering is billed as the continent’s largest convening for founders, business owners, and executives building the systems and governance structures that let a company scale and run independent of the person who started it. Organisers project 2,500 attendees from Nigeria and across Africa, up from 1,381 at the maiden edition, as founder-led companies confront succession, later-stage capital, and operating transitions while they mature. The 2026 edition will be headlined by Fola Adeola, OFR, mni, who co-founded Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) in 1990 and served as its pioneer Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, and who founded the FATE Foundation in 2000, where he serves as Chairman. Organisers describe his confirmation as keynote speaker as a signal of the conference’s growing pull among Nigeria’s business and entrepreneurship establishment. In April 2025, Tara Fela-Durotoye handed day-to-day leadership of House of Tara International to Rosemary Layode, the company’s first-ever Managing Director, after 27 years running the business she started at age 20 into Nigeria’s first makeup academy and first indigenous makeup brand. She documented the transition in Building Beyond You: The House of Tara Story, a book seven years in the making that was released in April 2026 and has since become an Amazon “Business” bestseller in both Canada and the United States. The case has since been adopted for teaching at Stanford Graduate School of Business in California, which organisers say reflects growing interest in how African companies handle structural handovers, a process founders running tech and venture-backed companies are increasingly having to plan for as well. The Institute tested the model at the maiden Building Beyond You Conference on September 18, 2025, at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos, sponsored by Coca-Cola, MTN, i-Invest, and House of Tara. Atedo Peterside, Chairman of the ANAP Foundation, headlined the gathering, with sessions featuring Tara Fela-Durotoye and Ibukun Awosika, entrepreneur and former Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria. “If you want to flip your company for profit, this conference is for you. If you want to hand over to your children, this conference is also for you,” Tara Fela Durotoye told attendees, framing the event around deliberate choice rather than a single exit path. The message has since travelled beyond Nigeria. Tara Fela-Durotoye completed a four-city East Africa tour marking the book’s release, stopping in Nairobi, Kampala, Kigali, and Dar es Salaam, the same corridor several Lagos-headquartered tech companies have been expanding into. At the Kigali stop, held with Rwanda’s Private Sector Federation and Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Rwanda, she said: “Legacy is not makeup for me. Legacy is not beauty for me. Legacy is the impact of the lives that I developed, that I built in the institution.” RwandAir is now offering a 15 percent fare discount to Building Beyond You 2026 attendees. VVIP and Regular tickets are moving at a pace organisers say matches last year’s sold-out run. VIP early-bird pricing remains open for a limited window, alongside Online Viewer access for those attending remotely. “Legacy is not an event; it is a culture of building that outlives the builder,” Tara Fela-Durotoye said. “This conference is not about stepping away from your business. It is about stepping up — to leadership, to structure, to the discipline of building something that will still be standing, and still be growing, long after you have left the room.” Prospective attendees can register at www.buildingbeyondyouinstitute.com/conference.
