Экспедиция епископа в Шетландских островах превратилась в спасение заблудившейся овцы

Sea Kayak Shetland trip led by Bishop Bonnie Anne Perry turns into sheep rescue adventure A kayaking trip with a US bishop on board turned into an animal rescue, after the team found a stranded sheep on Shetland’s coastline. A group of eight Americans, led by the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan Bonnie Anne Perry, was touring the isles’ coastline when they found the unfortunate creature stuck on a rock. Jason Fenn, owner of the Sea Kayak Shetland, said the poor animal was on a “very steep” rock and was unable to climb back. The bishop challenged the group to rescue the sheep and return it to its flock - and the kayakers did just that. The team took turns in towing and supporting the others so they could safely land the sheep at the nearest beach with field access about 15 minutes away. Talking about the eventful day, Mr Fenn said: “Another great result, and it gave our American friends a super story to share in the pub afterwards and with their friends on returning home!” It was not the first time that Mr Fenn was involved in a sheep rescue, as he comes across poor animals stuck on the coastline quite often. In July, Mr Fenn rescued a lamb near the Gulberwick beach. To help crofters and their lambs, he has also mapped the area where they are most frequently found. Bishop Perry was elected the 11th diocesan bishop of the Diocese of Michigan in June, 2019, making her the first woman to hold the title.
