Тестирование комплектов для восстановления фар: Chemical Guys и Sylvania показали лучшие результаты

My cousin and I spend a lot of time on long road trips, often driving late into the night. Ahead of a recent drive from NYC to Atlanta, I was getting her 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe ready for another long haul. Its headlights had never been restored or treated, and after 15 years of UV exposure, weather, and everyday driving, the lenses were cloudy, yellowed, and overdue for some attention. That made the Santa Fe the perfect test vehicle for putting popular headlight restoration kits to work. I tested Cerakote’s restoration kit last year, and it produced exceptional results. So, digging into more kits was a challenge I was excited for. We Recommend: Years of UV exposure and oxidation can reduce lens clarity and compromise nighttime visibility. A quality headlight restoration kit can help reverse years of weathering, all without the expense of replacing the entire headlight assembly. Headlight restoration kits take several different approaches to the job, from simple polishing compounds to multistep systems that involve wet sanding, drill attachments, and protective coatings. More Detailing Tests: Best Waterless Washes | Best Car Waxes | Best Car Scratch Removers In the evaluation process, I paid close attention to ease of use, the time and elbow grease required, the overall improvement in clarity, and how well each kit protected the lens after the job was finished. Whether your headlights have a light haze or years of stubborn oxidation, these are the restoration kits I’d trust to bring them back to life. Best Car Headlight Restoration Kits of 2026, Tested Pros - Months of protective coverage - Excellent on very cloudy oxidation Cons - Requires a polisher Meguiar’s Heavy Duty Headlight Kit is our Top Pick because it feels like a more complete restoration system than some quick-fix sets. Designed for seriously cloudy headlights, the kit uses oxidation-removal pads and polishing compounds to cut through the damaged outer layer of the lens. You will need a polisher to get the job done properly, but don’t let that scare you into thinking you need professional detailing equipment. The small handheld polisher I had on hand was more than powerful enough. It was immediately clear that Meguiar’s removal process was powerful. After sanding through the first layer, the lens was already considerably clearer. I didn’t have to put much force into it, either. As with all these kits, you’ll want to clean the headlights thoroughly beforehand. If you have a new car or one you’re rather sentimental about, I’d definitely mark off the surrounding paint as a precaution. I haven’t read about paint damage anywhere, and I didn’t experience it. But if you’re worried, it’s a small step toward peace of mind. The compound also has a rather pungent chemical odor, so I’d recommend working outside or in a well-ventilated area. It’s kind of funky right out of the box; if you’re sensitive, a mask might help you through the transition. I didn’t need to make additional passes over the grittier areas; the polisher absolutely made a difference with just my pushing. But I truly think Meguiar’s is so well formulated for really tough, cloudy lenses that it makes this easier. What really pushes Meguiar’s into the top spot is the final Ceramic Headlight Shield. After you’ve restored the lens, the coating adds UV protection that can help maintain clarity for more than 18 months. And when you travel as much as we do, that offer is welcome. The final results are by far the starkest and most even in the whole group. While this is not the fastest or simplest kit we tested, the extra effort paid off on pretty bad headlights. The improvement was dramatic enough to make an aging lens look considerably fresher while helping restore the clarity we want before heading out on another long nighttime drive. The before-and-after clarity of the Meguiar’s kit is significant. Pros - Little effort for solid results - Straightforward process for first-timers Cons - Not as strong a formula for tougher yellowing Turtle Wax’s Headlight Lens Restorer Kit earns our Best Value pick by giving you a surprisingly complete restoration process without requiring a polisher or a big investment. The kit includes Repair and Renew Compound, a restoration pad, and a set of Ceramic Acrylic Protection Wipes. I had seen on Reddit that a few users only use the Repair and Renew liquid. However, if you’re battling anything more than a light haze, you should go through the whole process. This is where the restoration pad will make a difference. That flexibility makes this a particularly useful kit if you’re not sure how aggressive a restoration your headlights actually need. For headlights with light to moderate oxidation, I would recommend this approach. I do appreciate how easy it was to control the process by hand. The process is a much more streamlined version than the others on the list. Clean, polish, wipe. Very detailed instructions were included, and the entirely manual process also makes it less intimidating for a first-time DIYer who’s worried about ruining a vehicle’s paint. The Ceramic Acrylic Protection wipes add extra protection after you’ve removed all the damage and grime. These wipes help prevent future discoloration, giving you more than just a temporary polish. For a straightforward weekend project that includes essentially everything you need to bring moderately cloudy headlights back to life, Turtle Wax delivers a lot of restoration capability for the money. While the comparison seems slight, as there wasn’t much oxidation, the new clearness after restoration is noticeable and shines through. Pros - Straightforward process - Excellent smell Cons - Temporary protection lifespan at six months to only a year Chemical Guys Headlight Restoration Kit is a good middle ground between a quick polish and more aggressive multistep kits. The system is designed to remove the cloudy buildup, and the process is approachable enough for a newbie tackling the job. This kit is a great pick for headlights with moderate haze and discoloration. During testing, I found the restoration process easy to control. Working the polishing compound into the lens gradually cuts through the dull surface, restoring clarity without feeling overly aggressive. That’s useful if your headlights aren’t damaged enough to justify extensive wet sanding. It still takes some patience and elbow grease to get an even finish, particularly around the edges and especially rough spots, but you can easily make additional passes over those stubborn areas. I also appreciated being able to see the lens improve progressively as I worked, rather than committing immediately to more aggressive sanding. The hand pad provided was more than capable for this job. The smell is very pleasant, too, making this a much more enjoyable kit to test. Chemical Guys makes the most sense for someone who wants to freshen up aging headlights without turning the job into a long, detailed project. This is a kit I’d recommend for moderate oxidation; the combination of an approachable process, noticeable improvement in clarity, and a protective finishing step makes this a versatile option. While Chemical Guys’ results are not as stark as Meguiar’s, the difference between the before and after is substantial. Pros - Stellar UV protection - Thorough multistep restoration process Cons - Must wear gloves The Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit is a strong pick for anyone willing to put in a little extra work for a thorough, traditional restoration. Rather than relying primarily on a polishing compound to disguise haze, this kit walks you through removing the damaged layer of the lens before applying a UV-blocking coat. Everything is done by hand. The kit includes the sanding materials, surface activator, clarifying compound, and UV protection needed to take a weathered headlight from cloudy to considerably clearer. I cannot stress enough that this is the kit you should absolutely wear gloves for. It’s sticky and abrasive and could really damage your hands if you don’t. It also smelled a bit “chemically,” but it was slight compared to Meguiar’s. This is one of the more hands-on processes in our roundup, and you’ll want to set aside some time to do it properly. The sanding stages require patience and consistent pressure, but I liked being able to gradually work through stubborn spots rather than hoping a single polishing step would take care of everything. The lens will actually look worse before it looks better. The sanding leaves a uniform film, but working the finer abrasives through to the polishing stage restores clarity. The process takes more work, but it also gives you plenty of control, particularly around the edges and curves of the headlight. The final UV Block Clear Coat is a major reason the Sylvania kit stands out. Headlight restoration removes the remaining deteriorated material, and UV protection seals the freshly restored surface, which is important if you want the results to last. This isn’t the kit for someone looking for a five-minute fix. There are multiple steps, and careful prep and application matter. But for older headlights with substantial haze and yellowing, Sylvania offers an impressively complete process, making it a good choice for anyone who values thoroughness over speed. While Sylvania’s kit can be time-consuming, the results are worth it. Things to Consider Bernhard Lang/Getty Images Condition of Your Headlights Light haze may only require a polish or wipe-on treatment, while heavy oxidation usually calls for sanding or a drill-powered system. Deep cracks, moisture inside the housing, or damage inside the lens generally can’t be fixed with a restoration kit. Restoration Method Kits range from simple hand-applied compounds to multistep systems with sanding discs and drill attachments. More aggressive kits can deliver better results on neglected headlights, but they require more time, care, and prep work. UV Protection Look for a kit that includes a UV-resistant sealant, clear coat, or ceramic coating. Restoration removes the lens’s damaged outer layer, so adding protection afterward is important to prevent the polycarbonate from quickly becoming cloudy again. What’s Included Check whether the kit provides everything needed to finish the job, including sanding pads, polishing compounds, applicators, masking materials, and protective coatings. Some kits require a drill or polisher, a spray bottle, microfiber towels, painter’s tape, or other supplies you may need to provide yourself. FAQs How long does a headlight restoration last? A good restoration can last anywhere from several months to a few years, depending on the method, climate, and whether a UV-protective coating is applied afterward. Kits with a dedicated sealant or ceramic coating generally offer longer-lasting results. Can headlight restoration fix really cloudy headlights? Usually, yes. Heavy oxidation and yellowing can often be removed with sanding, polishing, or drill-powered restoration kits. However, restoration won’t repair cracks, internal discoloration, or condensation trapped inside the headlight housing. Do I need a drill to restore my headlights? Not necessarily. Many kits are designed entirely for hand application. Drill-powered kits can be particularly useful for heavily oxidized headlights, but you’ll want to work carefully to avoid damaging the lens or surrounding paint. Do I need to seal my headlights after restoring them? Yes, especially if the restoration process involves sanding or aggressive polishing. These methods remove the oxidized surface and can also remove any remaining factory UV protection. Applying a UV-resistant sealant helps keep the newly restored lens from future damage. Why Trust Us?
