Из Монреаля в тропики: как сезонные рейсы Air Canada открывают Белиз для зимнего отдыха

When winter settles over Montreal, trading snow, icy sidewalks and freezing temperatures for warm Caribbean days can sound especially inviting. For Montreal travellers comparing Belize resorts for a winter escape, the country offers everything from beachfront stays on tropical islands to secluded lodges surrounded by rainforest and waterfalls. Belize is also surprisingly accessible from Montreal. During the winter travel season, Air Canada offers seasonal nonstop service between Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Belize City (BZE), making it easier to exchange a Canadian winter for the tropics. Once in Belize, travellers will find a destination with far more variety than its small size might suggest. Offshore islands offer turquoise Caribbean water and access to the Belize Barrier Reef, while the mainland is home to rainforest, wildlife, caves, waterfalls and ancient Maya sites. For those planning a Belize vacation, these three resorts showcase very different sides of the country. Sandy Point Resorts: Caribbean Island Living on Ambergris Caye For travellers picturing palm trees, warm Caribbean water and days spent near the beach, Ambergris Caye is one of Belize’s most popular island destinations. Located along the quieter northern coastline of Ambergris Caye, Sandy Point Resorts in Belize offers three distinct resort experiences, each with its own style and feel. Coco Beach Resort offers a laid-back luxury experience with two large swimming pools, beachfront dining, a pool bar, spa services and a variety of accommodations. It is a good fit for couples and families who want a polished resort experience without losing the relaxed, easygoing feel that makes Ambergris Caye so appealing. Nearby, Belizean Shores Resort offers a relaxed beachfront stay with spacious suite-style accommodations and excellent value. It is especially appealing for families, couples and longer stays, with plenty of room to unwind and easy access to island activities. For travellers looking for more space and privacy, Belizean Cove Estates offers luxury beachfront villas designed with families and groups in mind. The spacious multi-bedroom villas provide the comfort and privacy of a vacation home while still offering a beautiful beachfront setting on Ambergris Caye. Together, the three properties give travellers the flexibility to choose the experience that best fits their trip, whether that means laid-back luxury at Coco Beach Resort, a relaxed and spacious stay at Belizean Shores Resort, or a private luxury villa at Belizean Cove Estates. The Belize Barrier Reef Is Just Offshore One of the biggest reasons to stay on Ambergris Caye is what lies just beyond the shoreline. The Belize Barrier Reef stretches along the country’s Caribbean coast and makes this part of Belize especially popular for snorkeling, diving and fishing. Excursions from Ambergris Caye take travellers out to coral reef environments where they may encounter tropical fish, rays, sea turtles and a variety of other marine life. Some of Belize’s best-known snorkeling areas are easily accessible from San Pedro, making it possible to spend the morning exploring the reef and return to the island for a relaxing afternoon by the pool or beach. There is plenty to experience on land as well. San Pedro offers restaurants, beach bars, local shops and a lively island atmosphere. Head north of town and the pace becomes quieter, with resorts, waterfront restaurants and stretches of coastline that feel more removed from the activity of central San Pedro. Travellers staying on Ambergris Caye also do not have to limit their vacation to the island. Mainland day trips can include cave tubing, ziplining, wildlife experiences and visits to Maya archaeological sites. This makes Ambergris Caye a convenient base for travellers who want a Caribbean vacation but still want the opportunity to experience more of Belize. Getting from Montreal to Ambergris Caye The trip to Ambergris Caye is easier than the tropical island setting might suggest. International travellers arrive at Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport near Belize City. From there, a short domestic flight connects travellers to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye in approximately 15 minutes. For Montreal travellers, that means it is possible to leave behind winter weather and, after the international flight and short island connection, end the travel day overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Hidden Valley: Waterfalls and Wilderness in Western Belize Not every memorable Belize vacation revolves around the coast. Travel inland and the scenery changes dramatically. Hidden Valley Wilderness Lodge is located in the Mountain Pine Ridge area of western Belize and sits within a large private wilderness reserve filled with pine forest, tropical vegetation, hiking trails and waterfalls. It is an appealing choice for travellers who enjoy hiking, nature and outdoor adventure. Instead of spending the day beside the Caribbean, guests can explore forest trails, swim near waterfalls, go birdwatching or simply enjoy the cooler surroundings of Belize’s interior. Mountain Pine Ridge is also well positioned for travellers interested in seeing more of western Belize. This part of the country is known for its natural attractions, caves, waterfalls and Maya history. Some visitors combine their time in the mountains with trips to archaeological sites or other adventure experiences in the Cayo District. Hidden Valley shows just how quickly the image of Belize can change. While Caribbean beaches may dominate many vacation photos, heading inland reveals rolling hills, pine forests, rainforest and waterfalls that feel completely different from the country’s islands and coastline. For travellers who prefer hiking boots to beach sandals, this side of Belize can be just as memorable. Copal Tree Lodge: Rainforest and Farm-to-Table Flavours in Southern Belize Travel farther south and Belize changes once again. Near Punta Gorda in the Toledo District, Copal Tree Lodge offers a rainforest experience with a strong focus on sustainability, agriculture and food. The property is surrounded by tropical vegetation and includes an organic farm where crops such as cacao, coffee, sugarcane and vanilla are grown. Ingredients from the farm and gardens are incorporated into the dining experience, creating a close connection between the land and what appears on the plate. That farm-to-table focus gives Copal Tree a personality that is quite different from a traditional Caribbean resort. Guests interested in food and agriculture can take the experience beyond the restaurant. Activities may include farm tours, chocolate making, coffee experiences and other opportunities to learn more about the ingredients and traditions behind Belizean food. The surrounding Toledo District offers another perspective on the country as well. Southern Belize is known for rainforest, small communities, agriculture, cultural traditions and a slower pace of travel. It receives fewer visitors than some of Belize’s better-known destinations, which can make exploring the region feel particularly rewarding. For travellers who enjoy eco-luxury, food and immersive travel experiences, Copal Tree demonstrates that some of the most interesting Belize resorts are found far from the beach. Beach or Jungle? In Belize, You Can Experience Both One of Belize’s greatest advantages is that travellers do not necessarily have to choose between an island vacation and a mainland adventure. It is possible to combine both within the same trip. A traveller might spend the first few days hiking through western Belize, visiting Maya sites or exploring the rainforest before continuing to Ambergris Caye for several nights beside the Caribbean. Another itinerary could include southern Belize for food, culture and rainforest experiences followed by a beachfront stay on the island. For a first trip to Belize, combining mainland adventures with several nights on Ambergris Caye can provide a particularly good introduction to the country. Within a single vacation, travellers can hike through tropical forest, explore a cave, visit a Maya archaeological site and then spend the following day snorkeling along the Belize Barrier Reef. Few Caribbean destinations offer that much variety within such a compact area. When Is the Best Time to Escape Montreal for Belize? Montreal’s winter conveniently overlaps with one of the most popular periods for visiting Belize. The winter months offer an especially appealing contrast. Travellers can leave behind heavy coats and freezing temperatures and arrive in warm weather, outdoor dining, and Caribbean scenery. Seasonal nonstop service between Montreal and Belize City also makes the destination especially attractive for Quebec travellers during this time of year. December through the spring months are popular for travel, so those planning trips around Christmas, New Year’s, school breaks or other peak periods should consider booking accommodations and flights well in advance. Winter is also an excellent time to build a trip that combines different parts of the country. A few days exploring the mainland followed by time relaxing on Ambergris Caye can provide both adventure and downtime without requiring another international flight. A Small Country With a Lot to Experience Belize may be small, but that is part of what makes it such an interesting destination. Travellers do not have to choose between Caribbean islands, rainforest, wildlife, waterfalls, outdoor adventure and cultural experiences. Many of these can be enjoyed within the same trip, making Belize especially appealing for travellers who like a mix of relaxation and exploration. The right Belize resort depends on the type of vacation you want. Ambergris Caye offers Caribbean water, reef adventures and relaxed island living. Western Belize is known for forests, waterfalls and outdoor exploration, while southern Belize offers rainforest, food and a closer look at the country’s agricultural and cultural traditions. For Montreal travellers looking for warmth this winter, Belize offers the flexibility to create a vacation that can be as relaxed or adventurous as they want it to be. With seasonal nonstop access from Montreal making the journey easier, it is an inviting time to discover just how much Belize has to offer. contributed post
