Эксперт по выживанию, который обучал Дэвида Бекхэма, проведет мастер-класс по традиционным навыкам в Сатерленде

Beckham’s Highland guide to lead Sutherland wild skills workshop A survival expert who guided David Beckham on a remote bushcraft experience in the Highlands, is to lead a wild skills workshop in Sutherland. Outdoorsman and wilderness instructor Zeki Basan will lead the event at Ferry Croft, Lairg, on Saturday, September 5, from 11am to 4pm. The workshop has been organised by Lairg & District Learning Centre. Born and raised in the Cairngorms, Zeki has built a life around traditional craft, wild living and a deep connection to the land. He has worked across the globe from the Arctic fjords of Greenland to the forests of Iceland. Zeki came into contact with David Beckham after the footballer’s sons, Romeo and Cruz, booked a remote camping and fishing trip for his 50th birthday to the uninhabited Hebridean island of Scarba. The experience was booked through Rvival Experiences a travel collective that organises immersive nature escapes. Zeki worked as part of the specialist team for Rvival, instructing the Beckham family in off-grid survival, foraging, traditional fire-making and open-air cooking. Afterwards David said: ““We had an incredible experience with Zeki, learning new skills and understanding the landscape and habitats that he is so passionate about. “His knowledge and care for the environment and commitment to protecting traditional crafts is infectious. We are lucky to have people like Zeki to teach these valuable skills to a new generation” At the September workshop, Zeki will share stories from his life in remote landscapes and demonstrate the ancient technique of turning fish skins into leather. The event celebrates rural heritage, hands-on learning and the passing on of skills that once shaped everyday life in the Highlands and beyond. Zeki heads to Kazakhstan this winter to guide groups through the mountains, but he will return to Lairg in the spring, with more workshops focusing on traditional rural skills Tickets for the event can be booked through https://events.humanitix.com/host/lairg-learning-centre Do you have a story for the Northern Time?
