Виктория: массовые отмены рейсов из-за нехватки автобусов

Transit users in Greater Victoria were met with a page of cancellations on Wednesday morning as the company was dealing with “fleet availability constraints.” At 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 26, there were 28 routes on BC Transit’s website showing alerts. Seven of those were for detours, with the remaining 21 having cancellations. “BC Transit is currently experiencing a high number of trip cancellations and some service impacts in the Victoria Regional Transit System due to temporary fleet availability constraints,” BC Transit said in a statement to CHEK News. “While our organization anticipates this to be a short-term issue, we understand the impact these service disruptions can have and do our best to notify customers immediately.” The company would not put an exact timeline on when the short-term issue will be resolved, but says it will be “in the very near future.” For those relying on bus service, BC Transit encourages keeping an eye on its website where it issues alerts as soon as cancellations have been confirmed. “We encourage our customers to use the Umo app, Google Transit or any other app of their choice for real-time bus tracking,” the company says. “Our team is working hard to maintain service reliability. BC Transit apologizes for the inconvenience this may cause and continues to appreciate the patience of customers during this time.” BC Transit says the fleet availability constraints are mostly due to buses needing unscheduled maintenance, while others are out of service for standard preventative maintenance.
