Шотландская команда снимает хоррор-триллер «Initial Contact» с поддержкой краудфандинга

Ayr based filmmaking team aiming to make 'intense' horror film a reality “We want to show that you don’t have to leave Scotland to tell ambitious stories.” An ambitious new Scottish horror film is currently in post-production after an Ayr-based filmmaking team completed filming across the town and Callander this summer. Initial Contact is the latest short film from Fulfilment Pictures, an independent film production company based in Ayr. This latest work serves as a proof of concept for a much larger supernatural horror psychological thriller franchise currently being developed by the team. The film follows a priest posing as a lawyer as he interviews a woman accused of murdering her family. As the interview unfolds, he discovers that the person sitting opposite him may be something far more sinister, a malevolent entity lurking beneath the surface. Described by its creators as “intense” and “claustrophobic,” Initial Contact explores themes of grief, guilt and faith while plunging audiences into an expanding supernatural world. “We’ve been developing this world for years, and Initial Contact is the beginning of something much bigger,” said Robin De Vernon Ryding, Director and Producer. “We wanted to create something that feels genuinely unsettling while also telling a story that has emotional weight. “Filming it here in Scotland, with a Scottish cast and crew, has been incredibly important to us.” Fulfilment Pictures has secured support through Creative Scotland Crowdmatch, which can match eligible public donations pound for pound up to £10,000. The production has now raised more than half of its £20,000 crowdfunding target, but the team is urging people to get behind the project now that the Creative Scotland Crowdmatch deadline has elapsed. Creative Scotland match funding was available until 25 August 2026 but the wider Crowdfunder campaign remains open until 22 September 2026, with the filmmakers aiming to reach their full £20,000 target. For the team, the campaign is about more than simply funding one short film. It is about demonstrating what independent Scottish filmmakers can create when their local community gets behind them. “Scotland has an incredible film industry, and major productions are rightly bringing attention to what can be achieved here,” said Lauren De Vernon Ryding, Writer and Producer. “But we also want to see ambitious films being created from the ground up by Scottish filmmakers and independent production companies. “We want to show that you don’t have to leave Scotland to tell ambitious stories.” The filmmakers say the support they have received so far has demonstrated a growing community around the project, and they hope to build that community even further as Initial Contact moves towards completion.
