В Катаре установили 4061 ловушку для мусора в системе ливневой канализации

Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has installed a total of 4,061 debris traps across the country’s stormwater drainage network as part of ongoing efforts to maintain the efficiency of Qatar’s infrastructure assets and within routine maintenance schedules. The initiative aims to improve the performance and operational capacity of the stormwater drainage system, supporting greater resilience during rainfall and enhancing overall network reliability. According to posts on Ashghal’s social media accounts yesterday, the debris traps play a key role in protecting underground pipelines by capturing sand, leaves and other waste before they can cause blockages. This preventive measure reduces the risk of water accumulation and localised flooding during heavy rain, contributing to safer roads and smoother traffic flow. The traps feature a user-friendly design that allows for easy cleaning and maintenance without the need for specialised equipment. This approach supports sustainable upkeep of the drainage network and helps ensure continuous operational efficiency while safeguarding public infrastructure assets. Ashghal emphasised that the installation forms part of its broader strategy to develop and sustain public utility assets nationwide. By strengthening the stormwater system, the Authority is reinforcing Qatar’s readiness for seasonal weather conditions and aligning with wider sustainability goals. The move comes amid continued investment in drainage infrastructure. Over recent years, Ashghal has expanded the national drainage network significantly and implemented multiple flood-prevention programmes across Doha and other areas. These efforts have contributed to a marked reduction in drainage-related complaints despite population growth and urban expansion. The debris traps represent a practical, low-maintenance solution that complements larger-scale projects such as new pump stations, expanded pipe networks and flood-prevention schemes. Together, these measures help protect residential and commercial areas, critical facilities and road networks from the impacts of rainwater accumulation. Ashghal continues to prioritise proactive maintenance and modernisation of infrastructure to deliver reliable services to residents and support Qatar’s long-term urban development objectives. The installation of the 4,061 traps underscores the Authority’s commitment to efficient asset management and environmental sustainability under the #QatarRain and #Sustainability initiatives. Further updates on drainage projects and maintenance works are regularly shared through Ashghal’s official channels.
