Updates for Redstone housing residents include the following: • Landscaping restoration is underway in the Pathfinder, Voyager and Freedom Landing areas of Redstone family housing, according to Hunt Military Communities. After completion of the sewer lateral and Pressure Reducing Valve replacement portion of the project, work began to restore yards and common areas impacted by this effort. This includes hydroseeding and regular watering truck visits to support healthy new turf growth. • Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation is holding the 29th annual Oktoberfest at the Redstone Activity Field from Sept. 25-27. Admission, cash only, is $15 for general admission and $25 for general admission with unlimited rides. Gate 10 will be the main gate for admission and open 30 minutes prior to the start time. Festival hours on Friday will be 5 to 11 p.m., Saturday from noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Parking will be free. • Family and MWR is having a Large Item Sealed Bid Sale from Aug. 11-13. Items to bid on include a used Chevy Uplander LS, a used Chevy Malibu LS, a used outdoor Walk-In Cooler/Freezer, and a used Bobcat with accessory. You can view the items in-person before bidding by calling 520-717-9993 for the vehicles and cooler, or 256-876-7977 for the Bobcat. The fee is $30 per child and includes a T-shirt. The Garrison Army Suicide Prevention Program is observing the campaign with their annual 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk in coordination with resilience partners and tenant organizations. The event is on Sept. 16 at 3467 Vincent Drive near the ChildWise building. Registration starts at 6:30 a.m. and the run/walk is from 7-9. The waterline job is being done in two phases; and the second phase will have minimum effects on the residents, according to DPW. • The Rocket Grill, in the newly opened Food and Beverage Entertainment Center, is open Tuesday through Friday from 3-8:30 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It’s closed on Sunday and Monday. The location is 3229 Acton Drive, next to the Commissary and just east of Starbucks.
