Toronto’s “first-ever dumpling festival” is kicking off at Canada’s largest Asian shopping mall in the GTA this month. From July 17 to 19, Toronto World Dumpling Festival will run at Markham’s Pacific Mall, located at 4300 Steeles Ave. E. Toronto World Dumpling Festival Taking place outdoors in the mall’s south parking lot, the celebration will go from noon to 10 p.m. each day as it celebrates “not only world-class cuisine but also cultural diversity and international exchange.” “Guests will have the opportunity to explore authentic dumpling traditions from different countries and cultures, all in one place,” according to the team. Aside from traditional bites, there will also be reimagined dumplings with modern techniques and bold flavours. Plus, visitors can also vote for their favourite through the People’s Choice Award, powered by the Asian Culinary Arts Association of Canada. “Discover new flavours, celebrate diversity and be part of this historic first-of-its-kind event in Toronto,” the team said. Pacific Mall Summer Carnival Volume 2 However, the Toronto Dumpling Festival isn’t the only happening at Pacific Mall that weekend. The dumpling celebration is running as part of the mall’s “Summer Carnival Volume 2,” also taking place from July 17 to 19. So, if you missed out on the carnival’s first bash last month to kick off its 30th anniversary, now’s your chance to take part in the festivities. Running with free admission, visitors can look forward to an entertainment zone, a beer and wine garden, lion dance, cheerleading and a family fun zone. For any soccer fans, there will also be World Cup watch parties on July 18 at 5 p.m. and July 19 at 3 p.m. And with the carnival going into the evening each day, expect a night market atmosphere after sunset. Another food festival that weekend: Taste of Vietnam If you want to continue checking out festivals around Toronto that weekend, the Taste of Vietnam is running from July 16 to 18 at Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square. The 2026 bash will run under the theme “Vietnam Around the World.” Festivities will bring immersive cultural experiences, night market vibes, authentic food, a beer garden, live performances, a fashion show, a parade and more to 100 Queen St. W. Plus, there will be a live match viewing party on July 15 at 3 p.m. and July 18 at 5 p.m. to catch the World Cup finals.
