В Эмпории пройдет единственная в истории премьера документального фильма о рекордном тренере по баскетболу Роне Слеймейкере

On Wednesday, August 26, the Emporia Granada Theatre will present a feature-length documentary on Ron Slaymaker, a longtime ESU basketball coach, a Kansas Sports Hall of Fame Inductee, and the winningest basketball coach in ESU’s history, to the community of Emporia. The screening of the documentary is set for 6:00 p.m., and the Granada states that the theatre can hold up to 800 people, and admission is free. Should demand exceed the capacity, then admission will become first-come, first-served basis for anyone wanting to attend. Slaymaker was a coach at ESU from 1970-1987 and amassed a still-standing record of 463 victories as the head coach of the basketball program. The Granada gave a slight synopsis of the documentary in a Facebook post. “Coach Slay – Beyond The Scoreboard is a feature-length documentary that tells the story of Coach Slaymaker from many different perspectives,” the Granada Facebook page said in a post. “The movie looks back at legendary games that became part of Emporia’s history, while also exploring the life lessons, values, and wisdom he gained throughout an extraordinary lifetime.” They added that the documentary was a non-commercial project created to honor his legacy, and that anybody who knew Coach Slaymaker should come out to view the documentary. They added that this will be the one and only public screening of the documentary. The screening is set for Wednesday, August 26, at 6:00 p.m., with limited seats available. With 800 seats available and free admission, the community is urged to come out and celebrate the legacy of Coach Slaymaker.
