В Огайо unveiled историческую табличку, посвященную легендарным крекерам Cheez-It

A sneak peek at the Ohio History-approved historical marker for Cheez-It crackers, the iconic snack created in Dayton, is happening Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Carillon Brewing Co. in Carillon Historical Park. Cheez-It crackers were first introduced in 1921 by the Green & Green Company, then located at the corners of Cincinnati and Concord streets in Dayton’s Edgemont neighborhood. Loose-Wiles Biscuit Company bought Green and Green in 1930. That company later became Sunshine Biscuit Company and remained at the corner of Cincinnati and Concord until at least 1972. Sunshine was acquired by Keebler in 1996. Keebler was bought in 2001 by Battle Creek, Mich.-based Kellogg. The Sunshine label remained on the Cheez-it box until recent years. “An economical snack, Cheez-Its helped keep Americans fed during the post-World War recession, throughout the Roaring Twenties, and at the onset of the Great Depression,” noted a press statement from Carillon Historical Park. The historical marker for Cheez-It was approved in 2024. Tuesday’s sneak peek will be hosted by Todd Hollst of The Evening Edge on WHIO Radio.
