Ordnance Battalion sees change in leadership, structure

The 13-108th Ordnance Battalion welcomed a new command team during a joint change of command and change of responsibility ceremony at Redstone Arsenal, marking a significant leadership transition as the unit prepares for future structural changes. Col. Timothy Schlotterback of the 3/94th Training Division presided over the change of command July 11, transferring authority from Lt. Col. Jimmy Wu to Maj. Stephanie Mathewson. During his address, Schlotterback emphasized the critical importance of readiness, urging the Soldiers to stay prepared during the unit’s ongoing transformation and to maintain their high standard of excellence. Wu expressed his deep appreciation for the exceptional Soldiers of the 13-108th Ordnance Battalion and their dedication to the mission. Upon assuming command, Mathewson addressed the formation, exhorting the Soldiers to build on their strong foundation and consistently exceed their past performance. In conjunction with the change of command, the battalion conducted a change of responsibility ceremony. Command Sgt. Maj. Douglas Brown formally relinquished his duties as the senior enlisted leader to Master Sgt. Nancy Fisher. Brown thanked the Soldiers for their hard work and highlighted the great teamwork that defined his tenure. Stepping into her new role, Fisher encouraged the troops to continue relying on and supporting one another in the days ahead. The 13-108th Ordnance Battalion plays a vital role in force generation, operating with the primary mission to train and deploy instructors for Ordnance Noncommissioned Officer Education System missions. The 13-108th Battalion activated in October 2005 with its sister Battalion 13-100th from the OMEMS 1001 Training Detachment of 100th Division at Redstone Arsenal. It has operated since then from Redstone. The unit is preparing for a major organizational milestone on Sept. 12 when the 13-108th Ordnance Battalion will conduct a formal color casing ceremony to mark its official transformation into the E/5-80th Ordnance Company.
