В Джефферсон-Сити начнется масштабная реконструкция парка Ист-Миллер с новой пожарной тематикой

JEFFERSON CITY — East Miller Park in Jefferson City will soon be getting a new look. The park, located on East Miller Street near the Lincoln University campus, will undergo a full renovation, getting a new playground, new fitness courts, updated restroom facilities and improvements to accessibility. But the equipment isn’t the only thing getting an upgrade. The park is getting a new firetruck theme as well. “We have the Fire Museum right across the street from this park," said Ashley Wiskirchen, community relations manager for JC Parks. "We are hoping to incorporate some fire themes into the play area. We think it's just a great way to connect to the history of the footprint of East Miller Park." The last renovations to the park happened in 2024 with a new basketball court, followed by a pavilion added in 2025. "We are excited to renovate East Miller Park," Wiskirchen said. "We’ve needed to update the playground equipment for a while now." The renovations are estimated to cost $560,000. Another local park recently installed a communication board, a move Wiskirchen wants to mirror in this project. There is no start date set for the project, but once the project gets underway, it is projected to take about six months to complete, JC Parks Commission President Chris Duren said. Once the renovations begin, the park will be closed to the public until the work is finished, Duren said. Duren said this project is much needed for the community. "It's much needed for the safety and consideration of the kids that come to play here and everyone else who walks in the area, so we are really excited to be able to get going on this project,” Duren said.
