В Ронане пройдет фестиваль сбора яблок с участием биологов племен для борьбы с конфликтами с медведями

RONAN — The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Wildlife Management Program will participate in the 16th annual Ronan Harvest Festival on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ronan Visitor Center, 63239 U.S. Highway 93. Community members are invited to bring apples for free cider pressing and learn more about fruit gleaning, chronic wasting disease and current wildlife projects on the Flathead Reservation. CSKT wildlife biologists will be available to answer questions and share information about ongoing work. Residents who need equipment to harvest apples may borrow free apple pickers and drop off unwanted fruit at the St. Ignatius Community Center, 240 Mountain View Drive; Ronan Co-op Brewery, 23 Fourth Ave. SW; or 406 Sixth Ave. E. in Polson. The fruit gleaning program is intended to reduce bear conflicts and keep fruit trees clean by removing unwanted fruit.
