Charles Robert Duff was born February 13, 1944, in Jefferson, Iowa, to Lowell A. and Dorothy B. (Ocheltree) Duff. He went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2026, at the age of 82, in Forsyth, Missouri.
Charlie, as everyone knew him, grew up in Scranton, Iowa, where he attended school. He attended DMACC, Iowa State University and later on Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. He married the love of his life, Gwendolyn Morlan, in Grand Junction, Iowa, on October 28, 1967. They shared 58 wonderful years together, celebrating their anniversary last fall. Their life together was filled with family, laughter, and many special memories.
Charlie worked many professions throughout his life, including farming, where he raised pigs and cattle, as well as serving as an EMT, Scranton Police Chief, Greene County Deputy and fireman. He was a man who could do just about anything he set his mind to. Charlie loved to tinker and invent, and he had a gift for finding a way to fix almost anything. Give him a piece of scrap metal, a few leftover parts, and a little time, and he could often come up with a solution. He was resourceful, creative, and never afraid to figure something out for himself.
Charlie also enjoyed being a Ham Radio Operator and visiting people. He had a way of making connections and enjoyed the simple pleasure of a good conversation. He and Gwen especially enjoyed living near Branson going to see the shows together, becoming friends with many of the entertainers. Those outings gave them the opportunity to enjoy music and entertainment while spending time together, making memories that they shared throughout their years. He had musical talents of his own with his ability to play a mean harmonica!
Charlie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His family was a very important part of his life, and he will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his willingness to help others, his ingenuity, and the love he shared with those around him.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jean.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Gwen, of the home; son Steven (Lacey) Duff of Cumming, Ga.; daughter Letitia Shane (Andy) of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren; many cousins, numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Arrangements by Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel, Forsyth, Missouri. No funeral upon request.
