В Керр-Конте для пострадавших от наводнения запустили бесплатную службу перевозок

Free transportation is now available for Kerr County residents affected by the July 16 flood, KerrKonnect announced recently. Volunteers will provide rides at no charge through Aug. 20 for people who lack transportation because of the flood. Drivers will use their own vehicles. Rides are available in flooded areas including Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point and Comfort. Rides to or from Fredericksburg, Boerne or San Antonio are not available. Eligible ride types include trips to grocery stores, medical and dental appointments, pharmacies, medical labs, counseling sessions, volunteer opportunities and work. Prepaid grocery pickup and delivery is also available through H-E-B, Walmart and local pharmacies. Each ride is limited to one destination. Rides are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday hours, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., are reserved for flood-related rides only. With advance notice, riders may bring medical equipment including oxygen tanks and carriers, walkers, rollators and transport chairs. Wheelchairs are not permitted. To request a ride, call (830) 315-5377. Requests require 24 hours' notice. No more than three adult riders are allowed per trip, and riders younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Only service animals are permitted in vehicles, and food, drink and smoking are not allowed. KerrKonnect is also seeking temporary volunteer drivers, who may choose rides that fit their schedules. Drivers do not need to live in Kerr County, and volunteers from other areas are welcome. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, have a road-ready vehicle and liability insurance, and pass a background check. Training and safety supplies will be provided.
