Левша предлагает учителям поворачивать тетради на 90 градусов для улучшения почерка

Simple suggestion to benefit the southpaw If kindergarten and first grade teachers would teach left-handed pupils to rotate their papers 90 degrees to the right of the right-handed pupil’s page (aka 45 degrees to the vertical), the “lefty” would then be writing “right side up,” like the “righty.” The advantages would be: 1. Less smearing on paper when writing with ink (can also occur when writing with pencil) 2. Less cramping of the southpaw’s wrist from the twisting and rotating of joints to write “upside down and backwards” 3. More legible handwriting 4. No extra cost to the teachers or the school (in time, money or effort) As a southpaw writing upside down and backward for the last 85 years (since age 6), my handwriting has been consistently atrocious and often non-legible. I’ve had complaints from teachers/professors (one “F” for non-legibility on a college exam), friends and even complaints from the clerks at the U.S. Post Office. Admittedly, sometimes I cannot read my own handwriting. I sincerely believe my simple suggestion would be helpful to the left-handed students for the rest of their lives. Evan L. Lehman Fort Wayne Nation’s moral leadership on display at top of GOP With recent activities involving a number of Republican members of Congress, we might be tempted as a concerned citizen to ask: Is the Republican party still the “family values” party? Such concern is not misplaced, even with Democratic moral transgressions as well. Yet, perhaps the Republican politicians can be forgiven, following the upstanding moral leadership at the top of their party, and the enormous respect for the rule of the law and the Constitution President Trump continues to display. For my part, no such display has ever hallmarked the Trump presidency, nor will it as long as there’s a convicted felon masquerading as our nation’s leader. For our nation to have moral leadership, its public officials must govern with a solid fundamental understanding of what that entails. This administration, in large part, fails at this most vital of governance tasks. Kevin Krajewski Fort Wayne American tax system arguably most progressive I read this article about the taxes people pay and thought more people need to see what is really happening in the United States tax system. Maybe our politicians need to spread their pay and ideas around instead of always adding to their pay. It seems as if our politicians take care of themselves instead of working to help our nation. Liberals and progressives at the federal, state and even some local levels are demanding the wealthy pay higher taxes. And we will surely hear calls for a more progressive tax system as we approach the midterm election. But when it comes to federal income tax, the wealthy are about the only ones paying. In fact, the United States arguably has the most progressive tax system among developed economies. And yet for the American left, the tax system is never progressive enough. The Tax Foundation recently released its annual summary of the latest federal tax data for 2023. It found: • The top 1% of income earners accounted for 38.4% of federal income revenue received by the federal government; • The top 1% paid 59.3% of federal income taxes; and • The top 10% paid 70.5% of federal income taxes. By contrast, the bottom 50%, that is the bottom half of 153.1 million tax returns received, paid a total of only 3.3% of all federal income taxes. RALPH KLINKER Monroeville
