A glance at their website opens with a conciliatory statement to the communities of Northern New Mexico that "we should have introduced ourselves before our permits became public," and that they only want to conduct an exploration of the uranium deposit located five miles from the historic community of Canjilon.Well, Northern New Mexico welcomes your offer to speak directly to the communities of the Upper Rio Chama, because we think exploration might actually lead to mining. We would like to learn how your proposed method of in-situ-leaching, basically fracking for uranium, can be conducted with a guarantee of no aquifer or stream contamination. And we would really like to know how you plan to transport toxic fluid through Santa Fe and all communities along the route to your designated processing facility, Urenco USA, in Eunice in Southwestern New Mexico.Contact the Rio Arriba County Commission and schedule a public meeting. We welcome the opportunity.Cathy BaerChama Facebook Twitter WhatsApp SMS Email Print Copy article link Save Tags Uranium Mining Northern New Mexico Non-renewable Resources Actinides Nuclear Technology Nuclear Energy Nuclear Materials Nuclear Fuels Submit a Letter / MyTurn If you're interested in submitting a Letter to the Editor, click here.
