Подросток из системы опеки в Пенсильвании провела день в парке аттракционов без других посетителей

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Having a roller coaster almost to yourself is not an everyday experience. For 14-year-old Mariah, a recent day at Dorney Park came pretty close. “We got the whole park to ourselves,” 69 News reporter Bo Koltnow told her as the two made their way through the nearly empty park. Mariah and her crew received early admission, giving the teenager plenty of time to take on roller coasters, the carousel and other rides. When asked to sum up her carousel ride in one word, Mariah didn’t need any. She simply held up her hands to give the experience a 10. The day also offered a glimpse of Mariah’s love of music. She sang as she made her way through the park, providing a soundtrack to a day filled with rides and laughter. Mariah is one of approximately 3,000 children in Pennsylvania’s foster care system looking for a permanent home. Those who know her describe a teenager who cares deeply about the people around her. “Sweet as can be,” said Mary Ouattara. “Anyone that has ever met her thought she was the nicest person ever. Very thoughtful. Cares a lot about anyone she meets.” But behind Mariah’s easy smile is also a resilience shaped by what she has experienced. “That speaks to her resilience in life,” Ouattara said. “With everything she’s been through in life, willing to persevere and push through.” At Dorney Park, though, Mariah got a day when pushing through could mean something much simpler: taking on the next ride.
