Bob was born September 21, 1938 in Mauston, Wisconsin, the son of Arthur and Catherine (Conway) Kane. Bob graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1956. He married the love of his life Mary Naber in 1961. They were married for 47 years and had 3 children.
Bob was a kind, caring and generous man. If you were one of the lucky ones, he brought you fish. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1960 with a degree in Pharmacy. He started working as a Pharmacist at Bork and O’Neill in 1970 and purchased Claude O’Neill’s half of the business. In 1987, he purchased the other half of the business from Rueford Bork but kept the name as we know it as Bork and Kane until they closed their doors in 1995. All 3 of Bob’s children worked at the drug store, as well as Mary, his wife who did the bookkeeping. Everyone that visited the store was treated like family.
Bob took pride in belonging to the Kilbourn Fire Department for 18 years. He was Captain of the Rescue Squad for 4 years. During this time with the Fire Department, he made many life-long friends. The Dells Rotary Club was a big part of his life. He had his meetings every Thursday and helped select recipients of the Rotary Scholarships for the Dells High School. Bob loved fishing and hunting. He took many trips with many friends, and his son, Mike, who he taught how to fish at a very young age. They went to Alaska, the Arctic Circle, Canada, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Florida, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Kansas. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Badger’s, Brewer’s, and Packer’s. He especially loved watching his grandkids play sports.
Bob is survived by his son, Michael, of Wisconsin Dells; daughters, Kay (Pat) Cheever of Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Kim (Don) Triebell of Satellite Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Jessica, Luci, Luca, Will and Alivea; and great grandchildren, Nolan, Liam and McCoy. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Mary, an infant child and granddaughter, Kelsey.
The family would like to thank Dr. Krszjzaniek, Corner Drug, St Mary’s Hospital and SSM Health Hospice.
